In Pankration, you practice by hitting against floors like concretes and other hard surface like that. In Karate, you tie ropes around trees as tight as you can and start kicking, punching, and elbowing them. Never do it directly on a tree because you can sometimes get cuts and that's something you would never want to get. It's much worse than a bruise because if you keep kicking, the cut is only going to widen and it's only going to hurt more and damage your body.

Duct-tape an old phonebook to a concrete pillar or wall. Pillar is best as you can wrap the tape around it I haven't tried on a wall.

Just keep hitting the phone book with side elbows like you were going to hit someone in the side of the head.

You will feel some pain when you start initially doing this and it may feel like the bone is slightly bruised (and I mean SLIGHTLY, not badly, not bleeding, not broken). Over time your bones calcify and become harder and denser. Make sure to drink lots of milk.

Repetitive striking on a hard surface will build callouses and harden the skin.

Just don't over do it as to make them bleed.
