I buy the same quality of food, but I do buy some types of foods that I normally don't use very often, if at all, the rest of the year. Things like a large prime rib roast, spiral cut ham, cranberries, and dipping chocolate.

Unfortunately yes. I was given a good bottle of Champagne for an anniversary. I didn't know at the time how good, it tasted wonderful! I hadn't liked the stuff up to that point. The trouble is, it has spoiled me for the cheaper stuff. I would rather save up and share the vintage than 'waste' money on the non. Still, its only once a year!

It's become a family tradition that I bring a couple of varieties of expensive cheese to nibble before dinner. It started with me buying some $20/lb imported gouda for myself and bringing about half a lb with me to dinner. My dad was so outraged by what it cost it's become a game what exotic tasty cheeses I can find!

On a few bits yes but mostly no. I bought Tesco value peanuts one year, exactly the same as expensive ones.
