I am a non-believer. Everyone says when the collection plate goes around its for god. But why does he need it? After all he is this great guy that already has everything. Now he demands money also! Man what a great guy!

most of there feeding th hungry or giving clothes away comes from donations also, so where does all this money go? god must be a high roller up there.

well I just asked a question a few mins ago about preachers have nice things and everyone on that question said the money from the collection plate is for god. So evidently, everyone on here

Buildings and people aren't free. Ministry costs money. We give because we believe that money can be used to reach lost people like you. I just hope you really want an answer and are not being mean. You folks are hard to read.
Add: You are impossible. The problem with you atheists is that you don't want answers, all you want to do is cause trouble. Quite frankly, this catagory needs to cease to exist in its' present form. Which "God" are You speaking of ?
You are not being specific and it seems to be causing great confusion
Wether it be the US Dollar or the English Pound and there are other examples
If You look very carefully You do see which "God " owns this money already

Actually, the collection plate goes around so that firstly a preacher or priest can survive (they don't take much) and the rest goes to charitable works, such as feeding the hungry or providing shelter to those who need it.
Giving is an important part of many religions.

God owns everything, he made everything, what he wants is for you to willingly give to him, He loves a cheerful giver, He loves someone who gives till it hurts, its about obediance. God doesn't need money, your right, thats not what it is about at all, The Bible says that the Love of Money is the root of all evil,1 Timothy chapter 6.
Money will rule your life if you let it. God wants you to freely give to him to keep you from temptation. You cannot serve God and money, Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ is the one who is to be served. He died for us on a Cross. Serve Him. He is our Lord and we are his servants. If we believe we will live with him in Heaven someday. Praise the Lord!!!

God doesn't need money. But you need to give.
It's the idea of getting you to understand that all you have comes from God - and He is only asking you to give a small part because that's a tangible way you can demonstrate your obedience to Him. It's a very imporant concept that is often mis-taught in churches - it's a part of learning to trust God for all your needs.
He has access to all the money in the World. It's more for you than it is for Him.
I would say it is for your benefit to give. I'm sure of it.
