I have followed this story a bit and although its not been proven crimminal as of yet it is at the very least unethical. What say you?

that's nothing, take a look sometime at the televangelist, joyce meyers list of possessions and luxuries.

I'm not surprised, after all , it was his father that went into the prayer tower and said god would kill him if he didn't receive so much money in 24 hours.

of course it's unethical, the Bible does not teach about getting wealthy.

I haven't followed the story, but NOONE gets away with ill-gotten gain for very long, especially doing it in the name of Christianity. I'm a firm believer in eternal justice. I don't lose a wink of sleep about it because there's no way that this guy or anyone else will escape God's ultimate judgment.

The investigation DID NOT find RR or LR guilty of thief, misuse or misspending University or Ministry funds.

RR said he resigned caused he felt God asked him too.

He also said that he cared more for the students, faculty, staff, administration and ORU then his own reputation.

worry about yourself and not about this guy. there's enough sin that we have to wrestle against each day that we can't worry about somebody else.

take the log out of your own eye then you can see clearly to take the speck out of your neighbor's eye.

yea, it's a bad thing for Christianity.. that people in leadership fall to sin. But keep in mind that people in leadership are under great attack the more influence a person has the greater the attack of the evil one.

best thing is to find who you can trust and then learn from him or her.

until I clicked on your link I didn't know who Richard Roberts was. oh ok.

It offends me when anyone tries to use God's name in order to make a profit.

And that story is sickening. I guess the next thing he's gonna say is,"well, God told me it was okay, so I did it." That's not God he's hearing, that just him making stuff up so that he can plead insanity after they bring charges against him.

If you really look at it, it is typical of so called Evangelists. All they do is use people's beliefs to their advantage. As far as I am concerned they are pond scum. If God was great and good he would smite them just as He did others in the Bible.

Matthew 7:21--23 "“Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will.

22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’

23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! Get away from me, YOU workers of lawlessness"

1 Timothy 4:1-2 "However, the inspired utterance says definitely that in later periods of time some will fall away from the faith, paying attention to misleading inspired utterances and teachings of demons,
2 by the hypocrisy of men who speak lies, marked in their conscience as with a branding iron"

2 Timothy 4:3 "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled;
4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. "

I think we are of a thicker skin than you think. We are well aware that people will always abuse Christianity. It says they will in the Bible and that people will speak evil of Christianity because of it. (Peter)No big deal, it's going to happen and we can't stop all the spiritual abusers it's kind of that "think globally act locally" mentality. We will stop it where we can so that love may abound.
