Atheists do not actually believe god exists.

Freed of this delusion, they can then examine the texts that describe god - like the bible - without an agenda that god must be good.

On the basis of what god is described to have done in the bible, there is no doubt that by today's standards he would be considered far worse than a tyrant, and almost wholly evil. In Joshua he conducts the first recorded act of genocide. In Genesis he exterminates most life on Earth - animals with no malice or guile alongside humans he blames for things. There are accounts of him allowing kings to murder their subjects to steal their wives. There is the whole sadistic account of what he did to Job.

The list is truly endless.

Atheists simply judge by actions - or reported actions - rather than claims. And assessed by his actions, god is not good.

IF we assume that when you say "God" you are referring to the god of Christian mythos, and further assume that I show some belief in him, then the reasons I believe him to be an evil tyrant should be self evident. Have you read the bible? At best, that god is capricious, a child with an ant farm. At worst, he is reprehensible. Add to that the actions carried out by his followers, in his name, and his track record becomes appalling.

Atheists don't believe God is evil. They don't believe in him at all. Disgruntled Christians believe the Lord is evil because they are unhappy with their life and the world and need to blame someone/something for it. It is difficult to believe that God is a loving presence with all the evil in the world and some people need to lay it at His feet.

It's hard to see anything but malice in the way things work if they are orchestrated by a consciousness when a teenager with half a brain and some common sense could do better.

If god did exist, which he does not, he is a tyrant. Have you read the book of revelation. Its in the bible. If that isn't evil --- like Sauron fromt eh Lord of the Rings---- I don;t know what is.

whoops, the guy above me beat me to it

We think God is about as Evil as Sauron in Lord of the Rings.....we don't believe in God so when we refer to him as evil we are doing so in the context of "He is an evil Character"

Religious people claim that god is all-loving all-powerful and all-knowing yet why would an all-loving all-powerful all-knowing god sit back and do nothing to save people who are suffering?

You can not make absolute claims about what god can do and then make excuses for not being able to do them.

Think about it.

God killed 2,038,344 people in the bible.

How many did satan, the birth giver of all evil kill?

A whopping ten. Yup. 10. You can count that on your fingers and toes, suger pie honey bunch!

Here y'go, buhbye now.

They don't believe in God. Some became atheists after "trying" Christianity and they moved on in their own thinking.
