Community property. Commitment to live throughout your old age together. Raising your children in a committed family. It is easier to walk away from a relationship than a marriage, so it make you work harder to keep the family together.

Hi,
Why a person should marry is absolutely personal and subjective. But the advantage a marriage have over other close and intimate relations are the following:
Mainly:--
1. The committment and devotion from the partners. One can have many friends, many close friends, many intimate friends. But, in no other relation you can expect the committment and devotion like you can expect in a marriage. In marriage, the partners keep each other as the top priority. In all other relations, you may be the nth priority. Also, you need to mainly do things for one person, cater to his or her likes and dislikes only.
2. The feeling that someone knows you so well, someone is there for you most often. In any other relation, there is a limit to which you can expect these. This helps in situations when you feel the whole world is against you. If you have a successful marriage, the spouse stands by you. And many times that makes the difference.
And also,
3. Legally sharing all pains and gains. Society may accept other relations, but law accepts only marital relations even now.
4. For raising children in a healthy way. Single parents also can bring up children, even live-in relations can have children. But it s easy and more healthy when children grow up within a marriage.
5. Longer possibility of having the relation or bondage. If the partners fight with each other, perhaps the law will help them continue for longer. Basically there is some level of protection for the partners in a marriage than in any other relation.
6. An oath, a pledge, a vow takes place in marriage. In most other relations this does not happen. People relate by means of situations or reasons otherwise. A pledge or a vow makes the people approach this relation more seriously than others.
7. Safe, secure. If the partners are committed and devoted to each other, then one need not worry about anything that might norm ally happen in other relations.
8. A way of settling down in life. Rather than going around in non-committed relations, people in marriage are settled down with each other. It gives stability in life. They can start building assets or careers once they are settled in life.
9. Love, sex, affection, friendliness.. all these can be there in other relations also..
Hope this helps you..
all wishes..

Marriage is the ultimate commitment to ME.

It means you want to show the world this is the person you love, and that you will stand by no matter what.

I also think its a great for people who want to have children. When your married you cannot just "walk away", you have to go through a long divorce process, so in my opinion it makes people work harder to save their marriage. And this is important for kids, so that a parent cannot just up and leave. But I had a child out of wedlock, so I am none to judge. I just think its best interest of the children.

In the end. Why not get married? Should be the real question. If you are committed to spend the rest of your life with someone, no matter what. Then whats the point of not getting married? Marriage makes alot of things in life easier, if you dont want to get married because you think it ruins a relationship, then chances are you have doubts and shouldnt get married in the first place.

I don't think anyone should get married unless they really want to. There is no reason anyone on earth HAS to get married. I've lived as a single person, and now, at 38, I'm about to marry for the first time, and I can tell you as someone who has lived both ways, there's nothing like having someone very special who is your family by choice--which is the point of marriage, IMO. Could we live together without being married? Sure, but 2 people living together isn't a family, sorry, it just isn't.

Um...

I'm gonna go out on a limb here....but...

1. Two people fall in love...

2. So they can start a family with kids responsibly

3. Tax breaks

4. Religious reasons (for some of the more "touchier" ones)

5. We're all fools...

Hope this helped...or maybe not...IDK...
