Hey, Knownow, I gave you a thumbs up, to help counteract any 'thumbs down' :-)

Some folks do so for just that reason, some thumbs down if they disagree with the answer, and of course some just to get your goat. ---personally I think these are all misuses of the thumbs down and negates it as a useful reference.

believe thumbs down should be for something that offends the responders (i.e cursing/foul language and/or personality attacks) --It shouldn't be used very often and should be considered as 1 step before reporting

that way reporting would be the rarity it's meant to be

If I ask a question I always give a thumbs up to everyone who takes the time to answer. If an answer is rude or mean I'll ignore it. I certainly don't give a thumbs up for any other reason. Maybe I'm not getting the picture but I can't see how giving thumbs up would make a question look better. That, to me is just plain silly. Either a question is good and/or interesting....or it's not. All the thumbs up in the world will not change that.

I know I don't. I give thumbs down to the answers that are not good advice. I give thumbs up to the answers that are good. And if there is a good answer that would be the same as my answer, I do not answer the question.

Some people give a thumbs down just because they dont like you or your answer, I think they should be used only when the answer is rude or obscene . I give thumbs up to all who take the time to answer my questions as long as they are not mean.

Hey I never thought of that idea, thanks for the tip!
Just kidding.
I rarely give a thumbs down. Only when I feel the answer did not apply to the question.
I'm just a thumbs up kind of gal.-)

I never give thumbs up or down now because the system is used for the wrong reasons, it could be a good scheme but people either misunderstand or misuse, so whats the point?

The only time I give a thumbs down is when the person has given a nasty, disrespectful, irresponsible answer to a question.
