Most security officers working in iraq, are iraqi citizens.

Very few are American citizens.

Generally the Americans working security in Iraq, are employed by the US State Department to protect US Diplomatic Personal.

You dont need to be a US citizen to work for a PSD. Do some research on the web CRESCENT SECURITY and most others hire internationally ( some have pretty low standards though).

Because the position greatly relates US security. They feel that if a US citixen fills the post, it's more reliable - a citizen should have a greater incentive to protect his/her country's security than a contractor.
