I recently broke up with my bf of 2.5 years. he was a total jerk and he cheated on me. This is my second long term relationship (I had another of 4 years) and I feel that I have enough experience to know what I am looking for in a future partner now. I have started getting sweet with an old high school friend (I am 21) and he is just the sweetest most tender person ever. I know that he is interested in a relationship with me. Should I get involved with him so soon after a huge break up?

No, don't get involved with him right away.

He would only be your rebound man, and if he's as sweet as you say he is, he deserves better than that.

You need to give yourself some time to heal from your recent break up.

Explain that to your high school friend. He sounds like he'll understand and will wait for you.

Its too soon, you didn't tell us how soon though.

The best thing you can do after a break up is take care of yourself

Stay healthy, or just try to make your life better, don't get stuck moaning and groaning about it in front of your tv watching soap operas while eating ice cream.

Tell the sweet heart about your situation, and that you are interested, but just need time, you don't want him to become disinterested.

If you are ready to start seeing someone, take the opportunity. Take things slow and date and get to know each other again. But you would more thank likely regret not taking the opportunity.

If you think you are ready - why not.
Ask you sweetest most tender person to hang on to you cause you need his support. Things will shape up as time goes by.

Why not? Why do you think you have to wait to be happy? He didn't die, so there is no "respectable" time you have to wait to move on with your life.
