Technology is as old as the chimpanzee species or the seals; whichever evolved first.

Chimps have been seen using a straw to draw ants out of an ant hill or termite mound to eat them. This is a simple tool and technology is the art of making tools.

Seals like to float on their backs and use stones to break open the tough shell of mussels so they can eat them. This is also technology; the use of tools.

For humanity technology is as old as mankind and it came before civilizations were formed. The first examples of Stone Age technology were sharpened spears, fire, cutting and smashing stones and the club. We don't know exactly which tool was made first but the invention of each tool improved mankind's ability to survive. It is more likely that mankind first used sharpened flint as a cutting and carving tool, but any one can pick up a old tree branch or leg bone and use it as a club.

Every species develops a survival strategy and the one that has worked the best for humans is our intelligence, which is reflected in our technology. Dolphins are intelligent, but they have no technology; they can't form one in the always fluid sea. The only creatures that have approached the complex technology of humanity are termites and ants; but all their intricate work and behavior is instinct not intelligence.

I'd say it was about 100,000 years old. I would guess technology came about with the birth of agriculture. But it could go back further than that, to the time when paleolithic man learned to chip rocks to make tools.
