If there is a God and he is all important to happiness, then should we really need to look for more information through science? Shouldn't we just be content with what we have and look into our hearts to get closer to God? Didn't God give us everything we need? Is creation necessary?

The more I think about this the more I feel a meditating Buddhist monk ,trying to free himself from worldly desires, is closer to God. Why desire if you truly believe?

The key phrase you used is "if...he is all important to happiness." That statement does not apply to my belief system. Everything else you state after that assumption is irrelevant.

Ummm no way because then I would be going to the bathroom in a hole and taking baths down in the really cold river.

Modern technology and science is great. God is not just about praying and fasting. His power lies in knowledge. We should try to gain as much knowledge as we possibly can. Technology saves lives. Things as basic as air conditioning dont seem important until 1000 people die in a heat wave over in France. Little things we take for granted like antibiotics are sooo huge. Do you realize how many people died from the simplest of diseases less than a hundred years ago?

Thank goodness for technology and science. It has probably contributed in all of us being alive in one way or another.

Of course quite a complex question to answer in few words.
It is believed by all religions that 'Ekam sath, viprah bahuda vadanthi'(sanskrit).meaning the God(truth) is one and learned people call it by different names.By and large it says that ,God is one and there are different ways to reach him.
some routs are long some are medium and some are quite short. But every person has a suitable rout to God.This depends on the the experience of an individual.Science is one such rout to reach God (truth).
At the same time one has to go stage by stage to reach god.One can't simply get ditatched from worldly things.

there is a God, who created all things
science has not created all things, its more or less the "how all things work, alone and together"
we would have been content with what we had, if the original sin was not committed, because that was when our eyes were opened to knowledge, when Eve ate of the fruit of the tree of knowledge (the Bible actually does not state which fruit Eve ate), but it is believed to be the apple, that is why
apples are given to teachers, because they represent the fruit of knowledge

I do believe meditation can bring you closer to God, depending on what you meditate on

I'll still recommend dollars to research not rich preachers .
Your spiritual nature may or may not hinge upon a god but reality is something we work at regardless. And those Theravada Buddhists never copped out to theists beliefs.
If God helps your science why don't we all pray to Zeus?
If bleeding to death appeals to you forget the doctor and I'll forget the god . I really can't imagine those of faith committing suicide to be closer to their god or and empty ER because god is the new acting medical team.

Genesis says that God created man (not a child) and from him created woman (not a child).
Scientists are looking for answers to creation and have developed tests to date relics from the past.
They, the scientists say that mountains have developed from something smaler in scale because of earth movements, etc.
How about this: God made the mountains just as they are. Not baby mountains- just mountains.
Many scientists point to Darwin's theory of evolution as an indication that life has developed to it's present state.
If people believe Darwin was such a genius they should actually read his works. They may surprised about his appraisal of women and blacks. He believed in their lesser eschelon as compared to white men.

God created science. It has rules and laws and we break them at our peril. Even Jesus complied with them.

(MATTHEW 4:1-7) Then Jesus was led by the spirit up into the wilderness to be tempted by the Devil. 2 After he had fasted forty days and forty nights, then he felt hungry. 3 Also, the Tempter came and said to him: “If you are a son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’” 5 Then the Devil took him along into the holy city, and he stationed him upon the battlement of the temple 6 and said to him: “If you are a son of God, hurl yourself down; for it is written, ‘He will give his angels a charge concerning you, and they will carry you on their hands, that you may at no time strike your foot against a stone.’” 7 Jesus said to him: “Again it is written, ‘You must not put Jehovah your God to the test.’”

I don't think there's a god personally. But each to their own.

I used to work with a man who was a Christian and he truly believed that scientists spend their weekends planting fossils because they are all atheists who want to disprove the bible. I found what he said very scary because he had 3 children and he was teaching them that rubbish.

I was cured of Cancer by science. I never saw God in the Cat Scan Room, in the MRI Room, in the Surgery Room, and in the Chemotherapy Room. I am a very religious man. I am not a blind man. Without science you would still be hiding in a cave wondering without language how to get something to eat without getting killed.

Yes God is real.
To know God is to know what to do. Seek and ye shall find.
If you really want to know God then don't give up seeking him, ever, and you will be rewarded.
Yes science has a place and can be used for good.
God bless you
