Congrats on wanting to get rid of your nasty habits and also loose weight. First, lets do the diet thing. Getting rid of the coke is going to save you alot of calories a day. Also, you will be taking in less sugar which is also good. You could switch to diet coke, but I would say stay away from all sodas in general (diet ones have artificial sweetners, that have been known to actually make you crave sweet foods. ) Water is a good option, skim milk, flavored water, etc. Also stay away from fruit juices (they are loaded with sugar) and high in calories, eat the actual fruit instead. Also you will notice that you are less hungry if you drink 8 glasses of water per day. Try to just eat sensibly. Lean proteins such as turkey, chicken, and fish, lots of fresh or steamed veggies, (or even the frozen kind), and some sort of starch, (but not like white bread, go for whole grain bread, brown rice etc. ) On average you should eat about 2000 calories a day. Also you have to burn off 3500 cals to get rid of 1 pound. Jogging and running are both great cardio workouts, try to do it for at least 30 minutes most days of the week, If not, alternate jogging and walking for 30 min. Also, try to start lifting weights (not heavy weights, just moderate weight lifting, this will help tone you and also help you to burn calories, since muscle burns more calories per hour than fat.)

find daily calorie intake calculator, enter your stats and find maintenance intake- take off 400-600cal and you will lose eating that much a day.
use fitday.com to track your intake
eat 5-6 small meals a day -make healthy food choices - complex carbs, lean protein, healthy fats, dietary fiber (5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day) etc.
cardio is the only fat burning exercise, 4-6 times a week for average of 45min (dont count calories burned - its pointless), light weight training a few times a week
at least 8 glasses of water a day
no candy, junk/fast food, fried food, nothing made out of white flower, no processed foods, no sodas

pick up a 5 or 10 pound weight at the gym and visualize that weight coming off holding the weight in your hands helps bring home just how heavy even 5 pounds of extra fat can be
