" Oh Bhagavan, only Your are the Truth". It is the UNIVERSAL STATEMENT BEYOND LIMITS OF TIME AND SPACE. It can not be Mantra for Japa or chanting, instead we can chant "Hari Aum Tat Sat" or simply "Hari Aum". Oh Hari, You are only the Truth, You are Aum.

AUM is the real name of the Supreme Absolute, God. In the cosmic manifestation is (AUM); and, beyond the manifestation, farthest beyond is AUM. The Gayatri Mantra is the divine magnetic needle, always pointing to the transcendental height of the Supreme Absolute. Here, the seeker, the yogi (meditator) does not miss his God in the existence, the consciousness, and in blessing.
the three soul-stirring words: AUM TAT SAT ( Gîtâ 17.23) “AUM” as above; “TAT” means ‘That’, the nameless Eternal, above all attributes and majestic ‘That’ stands. “Sat” means Reality, the Infinite Truth.

OM TAT SAT is said to be be the threefold name of Brahman...

HARI OM TAT SAT -> That is the Truth.

OM TAT SAT

First let me tell you about AUM
We observe that when an ordinary fan with a speed of 900 RPM (rotations Per minute) moves, it makes noise. Then, one can imagine, what great noise would be created when the galaxies move with a speed of 20,000 miles per second. This is what this portion of the mantra explains that the sound produced due to the fast-moving earth, planets and galaxies is Om. The sound was heard during meditation by Rishi Vishvamitra, who mentioned it too their colleagues. All of them, then unanimously decided to call this sound Om the name of God, because this sound is available in all the three periods of time, hence it is set (permanent). Therefore, it was the first ever-revolutionary idea to identify formless God with a specific title (form) called upadhi. Until that time, everybody recognized God as formless and nobody was prepared to accept this new idea. In the Gita also, it is said, "Omiti ekaksharam Brahma", meaning that the name of the Supreme is Om, which contains only one syllable . This sound Om heard during samadhi was called by all the seers nada-Brahma a very great noise), but not a noise that is normally beyond a specific amplitude and limits of decibels suited to human hearing. Hence the rishis called this sound Udgith musical sound of the above, i.e., heaven. They also noticed that the infinite mass of galaxies moving with a velocity of 20,000 miles/second was generating a kinetic energy= 1/2MV2 and this was balancing the total energy consumption of the cosmos. Hence they named it Pranavah, which means the body (vapu) or storehouse of energy (prana).

Om, is perhaps the only word that phonetically and logically signifies the primordial sound. It is said that all the Vedas dissolve into the Gayatri and the Gayatri itself dissolves into Om. It is perhaps for this reason that almost all Vedic Shlokas (verses) begin with the word Om.

Literally translated, Om Tat Sat, means: "Om as the vital force (Pranavayu) is the key element (Tat) in all existence (Sat)".

It implies that God is breath of life force itself. And that this Life Force is all pervading in the entire Creation.

Om Tat Sat means Aum that is the only Truth !!

OM : The infinite spirit. All that there is. The primeval sound.
TAT : That, as in TAT TVAM ASI (Thou Art That)
SAT : Reality. Truth. That which is not evanescent or ephemeral. The underlying basis. That which is most fundamental and universal.

So the meaning is,
The infinite spirit - that is real.
or
The supreme God is the ultimate truth.

Yes. we can use it as mantra, because by repeating this we could remind the true nature of ourselves. Which lead us to moksha or liberation from bondages by giving spiritual strength.

What funny interpretations?!!!!Tat=(means) That---But in Vedic and Vedhaantic contest "Tat" is always used ONLY to denote BRAHMAM (without an exception) and wherever "TAT is used, those Rks are considered as Mahaa Vaakyams.. The synonym of "Sat" is Satyam=Reality.-"Asat" means falsehood.---Probably only in Kenopanishad the nature of Brahmam was described at the earliest which was responsible for Acharya sri.Gauda Paadha (in Bengal) to sow the seed of Adwaitha Philosophy ,which was nutured to a fledgling by his disciple Acarya sri Govinda Bhagavad Paadha on the banks of Narmadha river (near Panchavadi) and developed into a huge tree of gargantuan dimentions by Acarya sri. Sankara Bhagavad Paadha(Acharya sri,Govinda's disciple)..In Kenopanishad Brahmam(TAT) is described as Satyam(SAT),Gjnaanam, Anandham(immanent)--Acarya sri.Sankara added the syllable "Nityam" to this.in his Govindhaashtakam he describes TAT(Brahmam-sri.Krishna) is "Satyam, Gjnaanam, Anantham, Nityam, Manaakaasam, Paramaakaasam.---Goshta Braangana Reengana, Lolam, Manaayaasam, Paramaayaasam."

Every action which man performs; originate from and have within them the elements of truth, consciousness and bliss at its source.

These elements get lost; enroute that path of action through which performances of self move within; due to the attachments and bondages of the mind ; and due to ignorence, lack of true knowledge, awareness and consciousness of such attachments and bondages in the nature of self

The transcendentalists; however ensure that these elements do not get lost when they attempt to perform actions; and for doing which they adopt and use the words OM TAT SAT ; which ensure that the words thereafter being spoken by them
and actions thereafter being performrd by them are enabled, empowered and energised with the powers of Truth consciousness and bliss .

The use of these words by the transcendentalists ensure that the faith of truthfullness, consciousness and bliss are also delivered through the words spoken by them and actions performed by them; instead of their own

Chapter 17, Verse 23. (ABOUT OM TAT SAT)
From the beginning of creation, the three syllables--om tat sat--have been used to indicate the Truth [Brahman]. consciousness and bliss by the brahmanas; by uttering which they enabled, empowered, and energised themselves with the powers of the pure indestuctable; the knowledge of the vedas and the actions of sacrifices on their abilities of performing.

Chapter 17, Verse 24. (ABOUT OM)
Thus the transcendentalists undertake sacrifices, charities, and penances, beginning always with OM to attain the Supreme.

Chapter 17, Verse 25. (ABOUT TAT)
One should perform sacrifice, penance and charity with the word TAT The purpose of such transcendental activities is to get free from the material entanglement during performances.

Chapter 17, Verse 26-27. (ABOUT SAT)
The Absolute Truth is the objective of devotional sacrifice, and it is indicated by the word SAT.

These works of sacrifice, of penance and of charity, true to the absolute nature, are performed to please the Supreme Person, O son of Prtha.

Chapter 17, Verse 28.
But sacrifices, austerities and charities performed without faith in the Supreme are nonpermanent, O son of Prtha, regardless of whatever rites are performed. They are called asat and are useless both in this life and the next.
