You are a primate. You like bananas. Bananas have sugar in them. Other primates like bananas. Yes I think there is a connection there.

Actually, primates don't usually eat bananas as "real" food. It's only in captivity that they eat bananas.
But yeah, you evolved from the same sub-species.

Well since the domesticated banana--a product of thousands of years of artificial selection--has very little resemblance to a wild banana....I'm gonna say coincidence.

You bet! Monkeys are not only adorable and whacky, but have an amazingly discriminating palate.... And are currently rampaging in Northeast India, looting and pillaging homes for cell phones and sodas.
