Respect is a two way street. Obviously you have a reason that you don't want to lose the respect of this recruiter, but don't let him bully you into making a commitment your not ready to make. There are lots of ways you can serve your country other than the armed services. Start by respecting this Marine with the truth. Simply ask him to respect your decision to serve your country in a different way.

Be a man and tell him straight up that you dont want to join. Recruiters are persistant by nature and the Marines are the worst but if you dont want to join dont lie about it. Character is everything in todays society. Dont cheat yourself out of a good reputation because of something so simple.

Just get up the balls to tell him.
The Marines don't want people who can't handle it anyways.
Be honest and don't forget, he's like a salesman, he has a job to do and if he thinks you are a little bit interested, he will continue doing his job.

The best thing is to tell him you are gay. He won't say anything , and he will never call you back. It is hard, but hey we all know how military feels about homosexuals. Sorry to say that, i am not gay, a lot of my friends are and i respect their sexual choice, but military don't allow it. Good luck

Just tell him you're not Marine material..simply tell him the truth...you are such a wimp, you had to ask for help on Yahoo Answers..Obviously, if you're not man enough to just tell him not interested, and have to run home and ask for help..he'll definitely understand and leave you alone after that.
Marines have to have balls and, you son, are lacking in that dept. sorry.

What do you care if he respects your decision? He can't make you join. Say something like "Maybe Later, I have too much going on right now". That would work!

Don't tip toe around life to arrive safely at death. Don't make up any excuses, just tell him you're not interested.

Just be honest and upfront with him. Tell him that you have decided this is not the direction you have chosen to go. It's your life....it's your future.
