Are they really pimples? If they are make sure shes washes her back well when she showers, get her a back brush or one of those long loofas that are made to wash backs. You might also want to ask her doctor if it could be a minor allergic reaction. I have always had pimple like bumps on my upper arms, they look like pimple and even squeeze like them, but its something else entirely that I don't even remember the name of because it's not serious. At one point when my mom was worried about them my doctor prescribed a creme to put on that made them go away. Being in the sun also helps mine. Try some things then if they don't work ask the doctor about them.

Like BB asked, are you sure they are pimples?

The pimples are formed by the same mechanism as those on other parts of the body, e.g. face. Dead skin cells get plugged in hair follicles, bacteria proliferate, resulting in acne.

Ask your daughter to clean her back properly. Use a soft sponge, or gentle cloth, and scrub her back with soap everytime she showers or bathes. In addition, you can buy her some body exfoliation scrub for her to scrub away dead skin cells (that cause acne) and tell her to use it 3-4 times a week.

If things don't turn out right still, you might want to consult a doctor - just a GP will do. Applying acne cream on the back don't seem to be a plausible answer because it will take a hell lot of time and effort (and cream) to cover the entire back. Generally, you have to take oral antibiotics. But it's bad - since it kills the good bacteria in the gut as well. But a short-term medication shouldn't be a huge problem. Take yoghurt that contains probiotics to counter this problem.

Take control of your daughter's acne before it's too late! Good luck! (It's a good thing you care about it.)
