Ok so the school talent show is ont he 10th and I'm still not sure what I'm goind to do for it, or if I'm even going tto be in it! I was thinking I would play Blackountainside by Ledzeppelin on acousttic guitar. I can play it pretty well, but I think I'd just end up boring everybody cuz its just so damn repetitive! I really don't know what to o now... I really wanted to play acoustic guitar. But I wanted it to be a just guitar song with no vocals and definately no just chord strumming! I wanted something that like technical and interesting, preferably fingerpicking. Notjust arpeggios cause thats lame. and no classical cause people will finf that boring too. Somethting that will grab all there attention and make them thtink "Damn, I knew he must have been good at tguitar, but DAMN!" Yea. Or maybe blackmountain side would be good... What do you think? Also my friend is play crossroads by clapton I dont want his piece to totally outweigh mine. thanks. :)

Go back to the sixties, and find "Anji" by Bert jansch. That should meet your requirements.

I like SKCave's suggestion to do "Anji" by Bert Jansch. :-)

Or if you're going back a couple of decades, how about "Classical Gas" by Mason Williams?

But you've only got until Dec 10th to come up with something to play so you probably shouldn't try to learn anything new and complicated -- play something you already know and can play well, and from now until the 10th, just practice the h*ll out of it so that you've got it as polished as you can get it.

Whatever tune you do, keep in mind that a relatively simple piece, played really well, is WAY more impressive-sounding to an audience than a more difficult piece played badly.

For my first talent show, I had been playing a little less than a year. Someone 'volunteered' me and with about an hour or two of practice time, I did several rounds of a 12-bar blues shuffle in E with an intro, turnaround and ending, and varied the shuffle a little each time. I kept the rhythmn perfectly-my teacher at the time insisted that I practice with a metronome. The parents applauded, -it was more than just polite clapping. I did wind up getting shown up by the 9th-grader doing the Clapton medley, but hey..

Or you could just blow them away with something by Paul Simon. Laugh if you want, but I happen to like Paul Simon's music.

have you ever heard the Randy Rhoads piece Dee
hes one of the first neo-classical guitarists and that was one of his recorded pieces that he did
its a fairly easy classical piece but it sounds really hard if you play it good
