32in RCA. My daughter...........after much investigating I finally got it out of her.

She apparently kept turning it on & off. Now when I push power it only makes a noise likes its gonna turn on but it doesnt. No picture. No sound. Nothing.
It just barely passed the yr warranty.

Should I just buy a new one, Im hoping its something small. When I called Best Buy they wanted to charge me $100 just to send a technician & have him tell me whats wrong. But come on I know its BROKEN.

PS. Im really dont want to use my kids Christmas money.
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Nothing rude though......Please & Thank You

Nessa...your TV can be fixed. But it will COST $150 to replace the Horiz output that your daughter KILLED by on/offing it to death.....

PS...Everybody ABOVE seems to be GUESSING, so I'll Assume they haven't worked on TVs before...
Unplug it?
Let it set for a few hours?!
I had a problem LIKE that? And it cost about ...?

C'mon....that's a NO BRAINER.
On/off/on/off/on/off/on/off/on/off
POOF!
I've seen little kids do that with the front panel button.....

Do the unplug thing, like everyone else said. I have a 27" RCA tube TV that did the same thing (my sister turned it on and off probably 100 times in a 3 minute span) and leaving it unplugged for a day seemed to fix it. However, there might be some damage to a cap or the flyback transformer that would cause issues with the picture. If this is the case, wait until after the holidays and get yourself a 37" LCD TV (anything smaller and you won't be happy with it, since a 37" widescreen is about the equivalent of a 32" normal screen) since you don't want to dip into your kids' gift money.

If that doesn't fix it, you can always go to Wal-Mart and get a new and cheap 27" or 32" tube TV now, and take it back after Christmas with the whole "my mom got this for me for Christmas and I wanted an LCD TV instead". Hurray for gift receipts.

I had the exact same problem with my RCA TV. I had one with an automatic xbox vport hookup. I came home one day after a trip out of town and it wouldn't do a thing, no picture, no sound, nothing. And coincidentally this would happen just as the warranty had run out...lucky me! It was a problem with the picture tube I believe. It cost me around a $150 to get it fixed and this was a few years ago. It probably is not worth the investment at this point. I would just use the money I was going to spend on her Christmas present(s) towards buying another television. Get her something after Christmas. It will be cheaper then anyway. I'm sorry; it's a cruel world and she has to learn that sooner or later. No better time than the present. No pun intended!

I have a 52 inch RCA and I have problems with it too. I always have to shut off my cable box instead of the TV because if I power off the TV, the next time I turn it on, I always get a menu where I have to set the language and search for channels. Also, sometimes during the night, the TV will turn itself on, sometimes just the volume will be on and other times the picture with sound comes on. I think it's just some kind of RCA problem.

I had the same problem on my TV. It would make about 6 to 8 clicks then go dead. I had the TV ready to hit the trash and I plug it in one more time and it came on. I have not turn it off since. My brother told Me it sounds like a capacitor was bad. He explain that when TV power up it increase the power to the tube. You can find a TV repair shop and call them on repair price. Most of the time you are better off getting a new one. Best Buy are high cost on repairs call a local shop.Unplug the TV for a while and see if it starts up, you might get lucky like I did.

Unplug the TV for a few hours.

Quite often the components inside will reset when all power is removed from the circuitry.

When you plug the unit back in, turn it on and see if it won't come on OK.

It happened to me with my kids one time. Try it.

Try turning it on and then change the input mode, and see if that helps. If not, I'm sorry to say, you are probably going to need to have it repaired, or buy a new one. Keep the remote away from the kids!!

First try what Bob said, then if it still doesn't work call around to your local tv repair places for a cheaper rate...That $100.00 sounds pretty high.............
Good Luck............
