As it stands currently, no... women can't officially be US Rangers. However, they can be assigned to the same brigade as Rangers in more of a "support role". This is largely due to the moral/cultural issues & make-up of our country. Due to the "Aspin" rules back in 1994, women are banned from actually being in small ground combat units where they'd be "first in" ... like the Rangers, Seals, or Green Berets, etc. However, as a previous poster stated, women *can* and *ARE* used as MPs. In the current Iraq/Afghanistan rumble that's going on, women are constantly on the battlefield right there along with the men. It's especially important since the Middle East has a huge cultural difference than we do here in the US: Men and Women do not come into close contact with one another. Therefore, the small number of female MPs availible must serve as the ones checking women and children for weapons over in that area of the world.
There's a big to-do going on about whether or not the Aspin rules are being violated... in all honesty, our forces lack sufficient numbers and have no choice but to use the women currently serving in our military. Plus, in Iraq especially, there IS no front line! The insurgents don't really give a hoot who they take out. There's a lot of political debate going on now concerning whether or not the ban should be lifted. But again, as it currently stands, women can not be US Rangers. Although I'm not sure if the ban also excludes women from becoming Airborne/Paratroopers....
Women are allowed to be combat pilots, and to have some positions in artillery and air defense units, though.

Since you are in the Military Section, I am assuming you mean the Army Rangers and not the Texas Rangers. Women cannot be Army Rangers. The Rangers are an Forward Deployed Infantry Unit. Therefore, women cannot be a part of this unit. While women have become increasingly active in other combat roles, the heaviest being fighter pilots, they have not been permitted to be assigned to direct combat units.
Even if laws change regarding this, and so form of Infantry Battalion is established for women, you will not see a Specialized Unit with women in it. The reason being, as the Army especially has conducted numerous tests regarding this, women lack the physical strength required to operate within the combat environment effectively. NOW, if the US was no longer a super power and our military downgraded to a non-deployed military (with the exception of humanitary relief) than you may see something opening up...but again, not likely.

I'm kicking this out on 20150421 and, as of this year, YES women can volunteer for this torture. Yes, I know everyone said no, but that was then, this is now. Previously, ALL combat roles were closed to women. I think SF, SEALS, and a few other are, and you may still not see combat, but they have accepted 19 women for the April Selection phase. Of these, three have washed that I know about. No offense to women, but I would expect at least eight to wash out. Men don't do that much better.
This is the pre-female requirement statement:
"It takes a person with special character to become a Ranger. One needs to exhibit above average courage, character, self-motivation, and resilience in the face of adversity. In addition to that, you must fit the following criteria:
Males only
US citizen
Active Duty and volunteer for Rangers
General Technical score on ASVAB of 105 or higher and an APFT score of 240 or above (80% on each event)
No physical limitations (PULHES of 111221 or better)
Qualify and volunteer for Airborne training
No pending UCMJ action or drug/alcohol-related incidents in the past year
Be in or transfer to a MOS found in the 75th Ranger Regiment
Capable of obtaining SECRET clearance
US Army Officers also have the following requirements:
Grade O-1 through O-4
Qualify for TOP SECRET clearance
Meet branch qualifying and Year Group specific criteria
It is possible to have any problems with the above qualifications waivered, but that is dependent upon the ruling of the Commander of the 75th.
If you are just now joining the US Army, you will need to specifically request an Option 40 Ranger contract when you contact your recruiter. Currently, the 75th has 150 Option 40 contracts issued each month for Infantrymen. Other MOSs only have a maximum of 10 contracts each month. It is strongly recommended that you start pursuing your interest in joining the Rangers 12-18 months before you are actually available for service to improve your chances of obtaining a contract.
NCOs with Long-Range Surveillance experience are encouraged to request information about service in the Regimental Reconnaissance Company (RRC). The RRC provides worldwide assistance to the 75th and other Special Operations units of the US Army."
Normally, they make it a little easier for women and people in other militaries, so they don't look bad at home. But, it's hard to make this easier. Anyone who wants to try for the Rangers pretty much can. Now, it's the guys who put you through HELL that make you wash.
But, DAMN, I wish that Clinton hadn't messed with the Dress Code and they would go back to the Black Berets!

By US law, woman are forbin from being in the combat arms. This means no Infantry, no Artilary, and absolutly no Rangers/Special Forces. However, let me let you in on a small secret. If you joined the military police, you could qualify for much of the same training. You could be jumping out of airplanes, learning about urban warfare, and training with some of the most dedicated individuals you will encounter. Although the military police do not train in unconventional warfare, or receive the same toys as Speical Forces (Rangers), they are the closest combat branch that you are elgiable for. For correct advise please visit www.goarmy.com or contact your nearest recruiter.

Ranger school is closed to women. It is primarily an 11-series leadership school, although you will occasionally find the stray19-series type slumming there.
Try "https://www.infantry.army.mil/rtb/rtbmain.asp" for information straight from the pigs snout.

I don't think they can. I am really not for it if they can be. Not because I'm a jackass but I mean things like Army Rangers and other teams or groups that do combat missions are very dangerous and while I know women would make good fighters and solders I am so scared and worried that one would be taken prisoner and raped or hurt. The idea of that happening to a woman really upsets me. I know that like in the war against terror with the radical Muslims they have and do rape women prisoners. I would go crazy if something like that happened and I was around. So you see why I say that. It's not that I doubt the ability of women as solders but the idea of even one of them having that happen to them really upsets me. I would be for killing everyone around if something like that happened. So that's why I say I kinda hope they can't be. Sorry, I just wanted to share my thoughts on that.
