Well if you actually read the link, you would know. They tell you right there.

Palestinians are torn between various political factions and traditional family values such as honor and pride. Secularism and religious militancy coexist among the population of the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The political tasks and responsibilities of Chairman and Prime Minister remain unclear. These societal phenomena divide Palestinians internally. Much of Palestinian on Palestinian violence is related to these societal divisions.

Domestic violence is everywhere and your being able to find this website about the palestinians doesn't mean that it is most common among the palestinians. Notice in the website it doesn't say it is so high among palestinians compared to others. That was your analysis.

Also, if you still want an answer to "why there is so much violence" I think the website that you provided itself answers your question. Read the first paragraph again. That was why they made the website, is to answer your question. They didn't make it for you to come and post it here and play around the facts.

Peace

Could just be because of environment. Black America, well the majority of them live in like very urbanized and bad cities that affect how they grew up. =\ Rap can also affect the way black people "should" think with all that talk about thug life and being a gangster is cool. It's just targeting them, it's sad but it's true. Not like Government is doing anything to help -_-

Domestic violence increases among many groups depending on environmental factors. To those Jews who said our people never did that stuff despite persecution, think again. I don't think Hitler or anyone else was much interested in collecting stats on domestic violence as he was busy rounding up the Jews! Just because we have no statistics, as we don't for almost all of human history on domestic violence, doesn't mean it didn't occur.

As for the Palestinians, they are a proud and patriarchal culture. I would not be surprised at all that the incidence of DV in the occupied territories is high, because the men there feel so emasculated by their conditions. That leaves the home as the place to assert dominance and release pent up anger, unfortunately.

Your article is about internal violence between young people, yes that would be a symptom of unemployment, depression, seeing no future. Domestic violence is violence that happens at home, usually when a husband beats a wife, that happens in all cultures, only in some they keep it well hidden. Has nothing to do with education or employment, has to do with control issues. Cheers!

edit: also your article is from 2004, do you have anything recent? thanks.

Very correct EU, thumbs up!

You cannot even think of blaming the Israelis for the way Palestinian men treat their women and children.

Newsflash, my brilliant fellow YA users: We spent years in ghettos, with nothing. Much worse than current Palestinian standards-- makes yours look like a palace. We also went through the Holocaust. Did we do this? No.

Let me guess, it is the occupation.

You know my ancestors were persecuted for generations, and for some strange reason not a single one resorted to violence. None of them decided to blow up a market place. How strange, I thought it was natural for someone who is persecuted to "resort to violence out of desperation."

If the Palestinians would of had a Gandhi instead of an Arafat they would have had a state over 10 years ago.

Edit for B - there is a big difference between 'putting up a fight' i.e. defending oneself, and 'domestic violence'. You are trying to muddy the waters by equating the two, and it isn't logical.
