The person above me got it right! Down in Salamanca you can pick up some beautiful art works!! The art museum is right there as well.
The best thing about Tasmania is all you have to do is pull over and ask someone. We are really friendly and more than welcome to help you!!
Also there is information buildings where you pull over and they have maps and everything. Usually there is someone working there that can point you in the right direction!!
Have fun in Tassie!! I love it here!!!

There are a few ways you can head if you're after an "art trail", rather than centralised local arts & crafts. If you're flying into Hobart, try a trip to Richmond, the Huon Valley or the D'Entrecasteaux Channel (the latter two are to the south of Hobart, Richmond is near the airport), alternatively up the Derwent River towards New Norfolk and on to Bushy Park. There are various arty pockets here and there.
I'm not quite as familiar with the North and North-West of the state, but you should find at least as much scope there for local art & craft.
As well as Salamanca market, also visit Salamanca Place and Hunter Street (on the opposite side of Hobart's port) on any day of the week and visit the huge number of small galleries which showcase a variety of local arts and crafts in many styles and for a wide range of budgets. There's a similar gallery near the city park in Launceston, and no doubt many others in smaller centres.
One fantastic art trail (I think it's still there!) is a sculpture trail on the Tasman Peninsula - you can see several dozen really interesting works in spectacular coastal locations, and also visit the blowhole, Tessalated pavement, Port Arthur etc. while you're there!
Happy travels...

The great thing about Tassie is it's size - small. You can drive around the entire state in a day (not a very relaxing day mind you)
That means in two weeks, you can get around to most of it quite comfortably (but in my mind, Tassie has so much to offer you'd be better off with more time up your sleeve)
.
Just drop into the touist information center in each town and ask - they generally have heaps of information. Or just talk to the locals - we're pretty friendly.

you could try www.discovertasmania.com or maybe try some local council web sites they often have a list of what is on in their region . Hope it is of some help, make sure you dont limit yourself to one part as it vastly different for a little place. Enjoy a safe holiday in our beautiful state.

Ho yea, you can find small villages (around the cities) with plenty of handcrafts. In the city center also.
