Okay so this morning as I'm sitting watching t.v. my less than a year old kitty found a peice of string. She normally plays with it like a ball of yarn so I didn't think much of it. She got very quiet and I noticed she wasn't jumping all over the place playing with it like she normally does. I got up to see and there was 1 inch left sticking out of her mouth, she ran off and swallowed a peice of thick red string that measured 2-3 feet long. I'm so scared I don't know what's gonna happen. She seems normal and is as naughty as usual but I'm scared. Anyone had this happen? Is there anything I can do? I appreciate your answers. Rude responses will be ignored, I don't have time for idiots.

Take your kitty to the vet. String, especially a piece that long, can get very tangled up and do some serious damage to her stomach and intestines. Do not feed her in the meantime. Water is okay. Watch for poop in her litter box. Make sure if any string is hanging out (from her mouth or anus) that you DO NOT pull it. Even if she is acting fine, make a vet appointment. Better safe than sorry.

Hey, you should definitely take her to the vet. The problem with strings is they can become tangled in and around parts the cats intestines. If that happened it would cut off the circulation to the colon/stomach/whatever and the tissue would die or get really infected. It can be fatal when that happens.
Sometimes they will have do a surgery, sometimes the vet will have another way to get it out without cutting the kitty open. Definitely take her in though, they will check her out and decide what to do from there.

It's way too long a string! Take to vet, most likely the string won't "pass", but get tangled in intestinal tract.
Vet may just give a good swift dose of laxative or observe before surgerical removal if needed.
I doubt the kitty could digest that.

You don't have "time for idiots" and yet you leave string laying around for your cat to play with? Hmm.

Get this poor cat to a vet. String can easily become entangled in their intestined and lead to DEATH. Why you're posting on here instead of rushing this kitten to the vet astounds me!

You cat isn't "naughty" - you're careless in leaving things out that are dangerous for pets. And to those telling this person it's "Ok" and that they regularly feed their cats rubberbands - what is wrong with you people??? This cat could DIE if this person takes your deplorable advice!

Same thing happened to my kitty. She was foaming at the mouth, due to the string in her stomach, I took her to the vet and eventually she was fortunate to pass it though without surgery. Don't waste any time take her to the vet as soon as possible
Good luck!

A piece of string can tangle in her insides and kill her. You need to get her to a vet NOW.

I think in this case you should get her right to a vet. That can tangle up inside and constrict things.

My cat eats rubberbands all the time and she's fine. She's been doing it since she was a kitten and she's 5 1/2 years old now. If you're really worried take her to the vet.
