You only have to be concerned if you get your for TV with an antenna. The old analog broadcasts will still be there until 2/17/2009 so there is no hurry.

Cable & satellite companies will keep supplying the old analog signals for customers with older TVs.

You can get one know through the mail but you are better off waiting until Jan 2008 when the government will start a coupon program that Will let you buy a couple of them for about $20 each.

Radio Shack & Best Buy have anounced that they are going to carry these converters. Expect ads to start showing up in Jan 2008.

PS The change is to digital TV (DTV), not all of these signals are going to be "HDTV". This doesn't matter to people using a converter box because they can tune in any of the over the air digital broadcasts (including HD ones) and convert it into an analog signal that has a quality similar to a DVD player.

if you have 1 of those big tvs, your fine right now. but in 2008/09 all tv signals are changing to digital and those big tvs dont work without the digital to analog conversion box

also you can get a digital tuner box for your tv now

if ya plan to buy an hdtv, be sure it has a digital tuner

Stephen P is correct.

BUT you can buy a ZOOM satellite reciever to get the HDTV signals and connect it to your TV set using the RCA composite connectors on the back of the unit. Regularly available on E-BAY.

They cost 1/2 as much as a New Samsung unit. And I used one on my TV set....All you have to do is autoprogram them.
