Please help! I just found out that my cat is having cat flea which I can clearly see lots of the flea eggs under his coat. In addition, I have another dog at the house. They have some contact for the past few days. I am just so worry that will the cat flea also infect my dog? Or cat flea won' t transfer or jump on to the dog? And I found some bitten rash on my body too, is that from the cat flea? Will the cat flea live on human body and live by bitten human blood? I appreciate you help ^^

Yes, a cat flea will infect a dog. The cat flea is the most common flea. They will bite people, they seem to like some people more than others. Get some Advantage from you vet for both your cat and your dog. Treat them both for 3 months straight and you should get rid of them. It's a lot easier than bombing the house.

I think the person with the shot glass of alcohol suggestion was thinking of ticks. Fleas don't latch on when they bite. However, a cotton ball soaked with alcohol is a good way to kill a flea with your bare hands.

Typically the fleas that you find on the cat will feed off the dog, and off you too. They don't actually live on you, or on the critters - they jump on to feed. They prefer to feed from the pets, but you will do in a pinch. You MUST treat the critters and the environment - if you can, do it at the same time. If you can afford to have the vet or groomer de-flea the critters while you stay home and treat the house - with something that will "kill" the eggs and the adults (they don't actually kill the eggs so much as stop them from hatching, but that really doesn't matter) - that's ideal. If not, then get in some help and get it all done at once.

That's flea dirt (poo) you're seeing, not flea eggs. Flea eggs are microscopic. Flea dirt looks like black specks, comma shaped. They turn red when you wet them.

Yes if the cat has fleas, the dog will get them too. They won't live on you, but they will bite you. Cat fleas will bite almost anything.

Get some proper treatment from a vet, like Frontline, for both your dog and your cat and use it regularly. Do not use flea treatments from pet stores.

Fleas can feed off of most animals within' your household (and yes, even bite you!). Both of your animals need to be put on flea control *such as Frontline or Advantage* and your house may need to be treated as well (especially if you have carpet).

Fleas are not species-specific......mites are.

yup fleas bite everyone, if they get on you take a shot glass full of alchol (rubbing or liquor wise) and flip it over on top the flea, it gets drunk and pulls outta your skin, otherwise the head will stay in.
