You know...you take all the caramels and truffles and nut clusters, and ignore all the nasty creme-filled crap and nougat bits?

I had never thought of that example. It is a very good description of what so many “Christian” groups do. They Practice and teach only the parts of the bible they want to look at or are comfortable with. While so very often taking what the bible says completely out of context.

Jesus talked a great deal about the things the churches were, and are still, doing wrong. For instance, the groups that value material things more than God. As well as the ones that pervert His word and teachings while deceiving many and falsely believing they are doing good.

While there are a lot of groups that are not following Our One True Creator, I will say this when it comes to having faith in Our Creator.

Never confuse the practices of the people with the church,
Never confuse the practices of the church with religion,
And Never Ever confuse the practices of religion with God.

May Our Creator bless and watch over you and your family.

Yes, not everyone loves chocolate. Not everyone loves caramels, truffles, nut clusters and not everyone ignores the creme-filled ones and nougat bits. You never know what you're going to get in a box of chocolate and chocolate makes you fat. Chocolate makes your teeth rot. But when all is said and done, chocolate is sweet. Oh, and without chocolate a lot of people would be unhappy.

No way! With a box of chocolate, you have no clue what you are going to get. That little guide thingy that is supposed to map out the types of chocolate always lies!

With the Bible, I know exactly what I am going to get, pure truth, wisdom and knowledge. It doesn't matter where I open it too, I know that I will grow from it.

All of the Bible has purpose and meaning - God inspired men to write for many reasons. The Bible gives valuable information so that we may learn from the past, know how to live in the present and know what to anticipate for the future. I'm so glad we have it - otherwise, how would we learn about our creator and his good plans for our lives now and in the world to come?

Not really, you can't just pick and choose what parts to follow.....You have to follow the whole thing or not at all. Like if you are a vegetarian but eat steak because you can't quit.... (bad example but good enough :p)

Yup.

And some people avoid the nutty clusters while others can't get enough.

While people may use the Bible in hurtful ways, that is not the way God wanted people to use it. I think the Bible is way better than chocolate b/c it shows us the way to Christ..the way to heaven. All chocolate does is make you sick if you have too much of it. You can never have too much of the bible. :)

That is how many treat it. But if you get a version in the current language, you may eat and enjoy the whole box and even get to know the one who made the chocolates.
