I don't agree on either. Art shows us who some artist thinks we are, perhaps. More realistically, it shows what some artist wants us to see. Government has never in my lifetime been as idealistic and benevolent as Albee's description. Perhaps it should be, but that's as far as I will go on it. If Ron Paul gets elected, maybe I'll start believing again.

I do feel art reflects the pulse of the times. I'm also not referring to just visual art but the written and sung word as well. Right now, I don't want to do what the government wants me to do.
