ok i'll make this clearer for you, i wanted to know why they where so many contradictions in the bible, so instead of waiting for you to say they are not any i gave examples, not all of them, but some where they came from is irrelevant, they are quotes contradicting each other direct from the bible and that you cannot deny

101? Is that all you could come up with?

You should check out the skeptics annotated bible, they've got them noted on every other page.

And after you're finished there, you can check out the skeptics annotated koran.

Like I just stated in the *other* question like this....... there may be a few contradictions or I should say translation mistakes, and that is due to human error of understanding a language (Hebrew) that was almost lost and forgotten, but it also seems as if there are contradictions because people do NOT want to take the time to UNDERSTAND what and who and when and why certain scriptures were written..... almost all the OT was written to the Jews NOT the Gentiles..... and the first 4 gospels also were to the Jewish people, with exceptions !!!!!!!!!!!! Read the Bible people, slowly and with an open mind if not heart...... Look at what you are reading and do NOT just read it to find fault..... Ask about it, talk about it with some one who can maybe point out the reason you see what YOU call a contradiction........ The Bible ALWAYS explains itself, interprets itself, IF you take the time to read, study and LOOK !!!!!!!!!! go in peace......... God bless
Edit- what gets me is the fact that we, Children of God, get laughed at, ridiculed, etc. for following the Bible, and those same people follow anyone who writes up this kind of thing with out really doing a full study, that takes years, before they start agreeing or pointing out these works.... amazing !!!! but more sad than anything else....... *sigh*

Most of the contradictions are based from the point of view of the writer and you have to take that into account. Take for instance the number of fighting men in Israel: One report says eight hundred thousand and another that says one million one hundred thousand and so looks like a clear contradiction but what do the terms mean to the people writing them? Could it be that one writer is using just combat troops and the other includes support troops or one just uses the army in the field and the other includes the troops on permanent garrison duty? You are assuming a superficial detail in a story without examining why the difference could be there in the first place.

I completely agree that the Bible is full of mistakes and self contradictions (there are many more than the site you posted listed). However, I do not believe that this verifies the beliefs of Islam. The Qu'ran, too, has many contradictory statements. For instance, in two passages in Sura state a different amount of angels who visited the Virgin Mary. One passage says there were at least three, while another says there were only one. Using mistakes in one religion to prove another is like the pot calling the kettle black.

How many of those scriptures that that person gave, did you actually look up? I looked up some of them and he did not even have the scriptures right. I looked up one in particular that he quoted Matt. Mark, and Luke. In the scripture he put in from Luke was not even the same subject matter that the other two books were talking about. Before you believe some one, just because they write down a bunch of scriptures and claim this is what they say, why don't you try reading them, and doing some research first before you say "clear contradictions of the Bible"

1. the first one about both God and Satan telling David to do a census...that's not a contradiction. God made David take a census against Israel one time and at another time Satan tempted David do it.
2/3. Since each census was done at different times, obviously the count would be more or less depending on how much time had passed.
I could go on, but what's the point? Instead of looking at the Bible trying to find something wrong with it, try looking at it and searching for the truth.

I always find people who claim there are inconsistencies in the Bible are those who have never really studied it! I have been reading the Bible for years and can't find a single contradiction. Given that the Bible had only one author being the Lord Himself, How would any one suppose that the author would contradict Himself? Whilst the Bible was written over a 1600 year period by 44 different writers, it had only one author. The Lord dictated to these men as they wrote.

Some of these are just nit picky. Like 500,000 soldiers vs. 570,000 soldiers, or whatever. Who ******* cares, that's just being silly. As an atheist a better site would show how morally the or philosophically contradicts itself or is just plain wrong instead of nit picking stupid stuff. Like the number of animals on the ark? Who ******* cares, overall the story is impossible on so many levels and you worried about that?

2007-11-29 00:25:18 · answer #8 · answered by fifimsp3 5 · 0 1

Very unclear actually. Lets use the animals on the arc one since i've heard it before. Noah brought 2 of every kind of unclean animal and 7 of every clean animal. That site is taking so many things out of context. Its like if i said the sentence "Never in my life have a I killed a man" and lets say you had a tape recorder and started playing the last part over and over that says "I killed a man" then you go around saying i did and you have proof of me saying it on tape.

The bible is made so if anyone wants to build a case against God, he will give you all the material you need to build your own gallows.

Yes the bible full of condrations but it is the word of the god. Joesph smith a prophet of god helped restore the gospel of jesus through the book of mormon. Now makes the bible more understandable.
