I know it can be tedious- listening to people tell the SAME Story 1,738 times... But "Listening" is a GIFT of ones Heart & Time. - And if YOU would be a person who REALLY Cares about Others just because YOU'RE a nice Person- then be Generous & Listen to them anyway. Afterall, there's NO overestimating the Value of Pacience. :)

Just listen politely for a couple of minutes and then tell the person that you have to call someone or something to do.

that depend on you situation and the person you are talking to,if you don't have time just told him that you need to go and do something urgently and if he was someone you care about him and respect him more than other people you act like you are listening coz he deserve that coz you know he is special person in away or other.

just act as if you are listening. nodding here and there. saying aha or go ahead. but really not paying attention. but make sure you are not obvious your not really paying attention coz if the person you are speaking with found out then that would be a bigger problem

LOL, I do that with my kids all the time.
I'm sorry, but I really dont care about their video games, but they want to tell me all about it so I nod my head like I'm listening, but I'm really wondering when was the last time they've showered and brushed their teeth.

Of course. I'm sure not all of your stories are interesting ( no offense). If it is someone that is consistently boring then maybe you shouldn't hang out with them.

I think you should just be honest with them and politely tell them that that kind of story doesn't interest you or that it makes you feel uncomfortable. Then change the subject to something else.
