If Moroni devoutly practiced the Mormon Gospel, why is he an angel now rather than a God? (Doc. & Cov. 132:17,37)

In D&C if you would read the entire thing and not 2 verses it says "you are gods because you have no end"

There's a difference between salvation and exaltation.... and as far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong, but please be gentle), Mormonism is the only Christian faith that makes a distiction.
Salvation from death is free to anyone who is born. We don't even really have to know about Jesus Christ to benefit from this gift.
Exaltation isn't free- this takes some work to qualify. Matthew 16:27 explains. "For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works."
Yes, as Odd Duck said, there is a waiting time between the end of this mortal experience and our final reward. Currently, some of God's children are waiting for this mortal experience, some are IN the mortal experience, some have already had their mortal experience....
Once we've all had a turn on the merry-go-round of life, then Jesus will return and the saving from death will happen, and then we'll be judged for our reward.
So basically, to answer your question about why Moroni isn't a god yet- he's still waiting for the second comming of Jesus, just like everyone else that has done all that He asked. Moroni may be teaching people who didn't have a chance to know Jesus- give them a shot at salvation, too.

Well, the plan of salvation is a bit complicated to those who haven't heard the whole thing. I'll try and explain a bit so you can understand it better.
We believe that after death, there is a waiting period between death and final judgment. During that time, people who don't understand or have never heard the gospel, or accepted Christ will have a chance to do so. The people who already understood that plan get to teach others and pretty much be messengers for God. That's what angels are. They are messengers. God can send anyone He wants to in that capacity. Since there is a waiting period (we believe that waiting period will end after Christ's return to earth), no one knows their final place. That can be a good thing. Those who were faithful in this life don't have to learn much, they are free to teach and help others.
As far as that verse in Rev. Revelations wasn't the last book written. If those verses are to be applied to the whole bible, then the Epistles of Paul would never have been written. It might be placed last, but for sure wasn't the last book written. There is also one written by Moses that pretty much says the same thing. If that's the case, then the rest of the bible isn't the word of God, or the people who wrote it would have been cursed for "adding to" the bible.
God never once said that He would not continue to reveal things to man. There will always be revelation given to us. That is part of our learning process. To think otherwise means that progression in spiritual matters will stop for you. If you believe in personal revelation, then how hard is it to believe that someone could be visited by a messenger of God Himself? Doesn't seem hard for me to grasp, but then, I did grow up in the church, so to me, it's just natural to think these things.

An angel is a messenger. Moroni was just that.
A child does not become a full grown adult just because he he adores his father. Neither can any person become like Heavenly Father in an instant. There is a big step left for any man, we must still await the resurrection and the final judgement. In a billion years or so, I hope I will have inched closer to what my Father is.

An angel can be any spirit. We dont know when a person becomes exhalted and when they are reunited with their physical bodies. There is a lot of work still to do in regards to the people that are born to this earth. A lot of us will still be doing a lot of work afte.r we die to help move this plan forward. Noone is above helping God move the plan of salvation along, not even a prophet of God, actually, esp not a prophet of God
Yes we do have to add to it. Are you saying that prophets and apostles of God werent important to Gods plan? Missionary work done by us mere mortals arent important to Gods plan? We beleive that ALL people will be given the opportunity to hear the gospel plan. This means that there are a lot of people, after they die, will still have to hear this plan. Who do you think is going to teach them? All of us can play a role in continuing the plan of salvation. Christ provided the way that we can return to our Heavenly Father, but there is still work that right now needs to be done. There will be work to be done later.
If all God needed for this plan was just one person, than why did he ever call any prophets, apostles or missionaries?
charles,
well I am convinced now. I guess I better repent for worshipping satan and stop taking my brainwashing cult pills. Instead I should believe in a church that teaches good people that are mormons are going to hell. That sounds like a wonderful God to believe in.
The last verses in Revelation werent the last verses ever written. Just the last verses placed in the Bible. The books in the Bible are seperate works that were put together as one book. Applying that statement to the entire Bible makes no sense whatsoever. It would be like buying a book of Aesop Fables and applying the lessons or plot of one fable to a completely diff fable. (no I am not calling the bible a book of fables)
These were completely seperate books. There is no reason to apply that statement to the entire Bible. If you did then you would have to take in consideration that these verses werent written last, so anything written after that would be null and void.

Who knows? The book of Mormon is an adventure novel, plagiarized from the Bible, Shakesphere, Koran, and the writings of Capt. Kid. See capital city Moroni, Kummora islands. Joey got his "golden tablets from the angel Moroni on Hill Kummora? It's difficult to have consistency when following a made up story. When asked why his prophecies did not all come to pass as told, Joseph Smith replied "some prophesies are from God, some from satan, and some from man".
Now, how do you follow a prophet who doesn't know where his revelations are coming from? After all, you may be following a teaching that was delivered by satan. Our Constitution gives us freedom of religion, so people have the right to belong to a cult if they want to. Just don't drink the koolaid.

Who is to say he isn't or when he would receive his exaltation? Is it not possible that he is a god in that sense, but still serving His God? We do not believe we will ever be equal to God, rather we believe we will continually progress through Christ and God.
