The best, even though its not the fastest, is to exercise. I know that's not what you probably want to hear but it is the best way to lose weight.
I suggest you do cardio and some strength training.
Alternate muscle groups every other day as you do your strength training. Work your arms one day, abs another, and so on.
For cardio the stair stepper is great as is the exercise bike. If they got the option put them on the fat burner cycle. Put each one on the highest intensity level you can stand without passing out.
You should exercise 2 hours a day if you are trying to lose weight as that is doubled what is recommended by the experts.
Also, you should be drinking plenty of water as you exercise and after you exercise. Water is best for you if you is working out and/or trying to lose weight. You need to drink about 3 liters a day if you is working out, 2 otherwise.

find daily calorie intake calculator, enter your stats and find maintenance intake- take off 400-600cal and you will lose eating that much a day.
use fitday.com to track your intake
eat 5-6 small meals a day -make healthy food choices - complex carbs, lean protein, healthy fats, dietary fiber (5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day) etc.
cardio is the only fat burning exercise, 4-6 times a week for average of 45min, light weight training a few times a week
at least 8 glasses of water a day
no candy, junk/fast food, fried food, nothing made out of white flower, no processed foods, no sodas

What food do you like? I like food too & I can easily make an all you can eat regret my walking in the door. The key is health food, i eat so many veggies & healthy snacks, but the weight stays away. Also, you will need to take up some excercise, jogging every night will help. Start slowly & build up, concentrate on your breathing & you should be fine.
