I have a definitional essay due on why or why not a homosexual family is considered a family. My argument at first was that they are not a family (Just because I thought I could find sufficient information on the topic). After I realized I couldn't find any sources to implement into my paper I switched over to homosexual families are families. After doing so I still can not find any articles to list as sources.

I was wondering if anyone can give me a few reasons why a homosexual family is considered a family, and possibly some articles to back it up on.

I don't think you can prove a family is a family by an article. You can't prove a heterosexual family is a family with an article, so homosexual families aren't any different. Websters defines family as "the basic unit in society traditionally consisting of two parents rearing their children". We also know that 1 parent and a child can be a family. "Family" is how we define people who are connected by affection and commitment, who raise children. I also believe family can define any persons who choose to live together with the common goal of sharing their lives.

Gays and lesbians are people, like heterosexuals, all you need is a parent and a child to have a family. Two parents just makes it easier.

My friend Tori lives with her two Aunts who are lesbian. Then her sister "came out" and told her that she was bisexual!
Well when I see Tori with her aunts, her sister's girlfriend and her sister I do see a family. I will admit it is weird and it does gross you out at times but they always seem to be happy with each other. All of them enjoy the company of each other as a family. They don't even cares if someone says something bad about their unique relationships. Thats what makes them stronger toghether as a family! :)
