I'm in university and in a relationship that's getting serious and lately I've been crying a lot.. Do you think that it's possible that it's in my system to be depressed if I don't have a baby by this age? (I'm 20.)
This obviously doesn't mean I'm going to have a baby lol.. just interested in your thoughts . Thanks for answering!

There's definitely a hormonal component. It's not like I choose to cry. It's very different than it was before puberty.

There's a big difference between being depressed and just feeling bad about something. If you feel this way about almost everything in your life-then that might be depression. Wanting something you don't have like a baby, husband, boyfriend, job. That's just normal-Probably stress and hormones and all that stuff we women have going on. But if it starts spreading to other areas of your life, then you should see your doctor.

I think you could be depressed for a number of reasons, but I don't know if 20 is the time when your biological clock starts ticking. I'm 20 myself, and yes, I see a cute baby and want to buy baby clothes and would like one .. but I realize I'm pretty young still and have plenty of time.
Look at other aspects of your life. You say you're in a serious relationship, is that going okay for you? Are you having any problems at all, no matter how insignificant? Maybe you think having a baby will make your relationship stronger? (it won't)
Or, you're in school, probably, what, a junior? Maybe you are stressing out about that and that is making you depressed.
If you are unsure, there is no harm in taking to someone. A therapist or anything. Especially if you're crying a lot... you need to take care of yourself, do whatever you can to become emotionally healthy again. Because, it's not normal to be sad all the time.
Good luck and I hope you figure out what's bothering you!

R U FREAKIN CRAZY? Nah baby girl, it doesn't mean you need a baby or anything like that. Its really REALLY simple: This 'serious' relationship your in...your not gettin EVERYTHING you need, your partner is leaving something out....maybe its time, maybe its true True LOVE, maybe he's having you do some type of sex thats making you feel 'less than', maybe not giving your respect, maybe treating you 'less than' AFTER he has sex???? Girl its something besides you not having a baby....IF your feeling depressed you sure don't need a baby right now..
WHY do I say all this horrible stuff about your partner? Well, maybe its cause you mentioned the 'serious' relationship, the university, and crying a LOT. Girl I bet your really HOT and that dude is really lucky to have you and you love him with all your heart...bet your just getting this feeling that maybe...just maybe your not gettin all the LOVE back....try dating someone else OR tell your dude/partner what you MUST have in this 'serious' relationship.

Hi. The interesting thing here for me is why you are crying. I wonder if there are expectations by someone that by 20 years old that you should have a baby? As for your 'system' I'm guessing you are wondering whether you are predisposed to a mental health problem such as depression? You should look into your family history: who has been Dx with depression in your family would be a good place to start. Good luck with uni :)

I don't think so. More likely- you're depressed because you don't have a LIFE & you think that having a child is going to solve all your problems. It won't. You're in University for a REASON- & there should be MORE than ENOUGH to do there- to Interest you & occupy your time... Most Schools have On Campus Counseling for their Student Body...- You might consider looking into it to find out what the cause of your Depression is..... Hang in there, & Good Luck. :)

No, it's not in your system to be depressed cause you want a baby at 20.
it 's more than likely clinical depression & can be treated.
Hormones do go up & down, but if you think you're depresed now, when you are pg. your hormones REALLY go up & down. everything sometimes can make you cry !
