I fail to see how or why women could possibly believe that their falling pregnant some how should be paid for by the employer ! They disrupt the workplace by their planned pregnancies and after scheming their way towards lower and even middle management positions, than expect the workplace to pay for their time at home with the baby, watching "days of our lifes" or Oprah ! When will women learn, parenthood is a priviledge and NOT to be paid for by the workplace ! Which they disrupt enough btw...

I agree with you. They leave for 3 months, then they "work from home".

You will never be puting your job #1 when you work at home and watch a toddler, so why give them raises and more money, and remove them from being in the workplace, where a manager needs to be able to be called on throughout the day?

As a man, could you leave for "paternity " and work only with email correspondence through out the day for the next few years because you adopt a kid? Ask your employer- tell them you are having a baby and want maternity leave. Adapt an orphan. Next, Buy an XBOX and a nice computer.

Excuse you!!! After a women has a baby she has to recuperate herself not to mention taking care of a newborn 24 hrs a day. We have to wake up at all hours of the night to feed and soothe the baby when we are wore out ourselves! Newborns eat every two to three hrs. by the way. So think about not getting to sleep a full night until your little one does, which can take up to a year for some. How do you figure that women scheme there way to get low and middle management positions? Why did you exclude upper management? Women run a lot of places now and do a hell of a better job than a man could do. Looks like a woman may even be running our country soon!!! What does it matter to you if a woman gets paid for maternity leave? It doesn't come out of your pocket and it isn't her whole salary it is only a portion that she gets paid during her leave. You also have to figure in the two jobs she will be holding after she goes back to work. She has a full time during the day and another full time job raising a kid when she gets home!!! Something a man couldn't do without us!!! The ignorance of some people just blows my mind.

"Falling pregnant" - ""Planned pregnancies" - "Scheming their way toward lower and even middle management positions" - " "Watching "Days of Our Lives or Oprah" - "Which they disrupt enough btw..."

What a bitter man you must be to hurl such insults at anyone! Have you not heard of the "Family/Medical Leave Act" adopted by the Department of Labor in 1993? Anyone, even you, are entitled to 12 weeks per year of UNPAID leave for medical or family reasons. The employer does NOT pay for their absences under the act and what do you care what a woman does when she's at home recuperating from and caring for her newborn child?

You accuse women of scheming their way into jobs and disrupting the workplace in general. Might those jobs be the ones you cannot hope to aspire to? You certainly hold a deep resentment for women! I wonder why you don't try and rid yourself of your demons and appreciate that the workplace is such that anyone who is qualified can rise to whatever level their expertise allows them. Perhaps you can arrange to take 12 weeks medical leave to discover why you're so resentful, hateful and confused!

wow, did I somehow get caught in a time machine and get sent back to the 1800's???

of course, women shouldnt be allowed to work in management positions if they plan on getting pregnant, we all know that having a baby is 100% due to women and that the man had nothing to do with it, and of course no women could ever possibly have earned the right to be in management to begin with, she must have "schemed" her way in somehow, and we all know that women with newborns sit around all day watching tv, because babies don't really take up any time at all or require much effort. I mean don't we all live in a world where we all make so much money that we can all afford to stay home with our children and not work? Better yet, lets get rid of all benefits, I mean shouldnt we all be responsible for not getting sick or hurt? we shouldnt rely on our employers to pay for that either.
That was sarcasm btw, I thought I should point that out, as your question seems to clearly illustrate a complete lack of intelligence.

Watching "days of our lives" and "Oprah?" Have you ever stayed home with a baby? Do you even have a child? There is no time to sit and watch TV all day long. Some companies allow paternity leave, you know. Maybe your company doesn't, but some do. Do you actually think it's possible for a woman to give birth on a Friday and be back to work by Monday?

In general I agree with you. I think the womens place is in the home. Provided of course that she's married, has or is pregnant with a baby. One of the main problems with society today is there is no one home with the kids anymore. That is one of the main causes of all the under achievement of our youth, the high crime rates among them, and the general lack of family centered life.
Parents/adults are to blame. My generation in particular as we are the ones that forced through all the social 'reforms' that sprang from the women's lib movement, free love, and first me me generation. We as a nation have become very self centered and narcissistic.
Parents put having a newer car, bigger house, and nice vacation ahead of the children's education and upbringing.
We used to be the most admired country in the world, now we are just the most likely to fail.
Just my two cents worth.

Well, clearly you shouldn't be in management. That feature (maternity leave) as well as work-at-home schemes are designed to RETAIN valuable employees. It costs thousands to train an employee to work within any company. If you broke your leg and were out of work for 8 weeks, you too would get paid if you had disability insurance. So quit your whining. It is only because men can't have children that you feel you are being put upon.

You're a sexist pig & I hope any women who has the misfortune to date you learns that before she makes the mistake of becoming pregnant with someone like you.

Do you suggest fathers stay home with the baby then? Or should those baby's just be thrown off to someone else immediately after birth to make jerks like you happy?

I am a woman and I happen to agree....

if you get pregnant you should be responsible enough to plan and prepare financially for the kid.. it should not be your employers (or tax payers) burden...

GEEZ! why are you so bitter? If you have a personal gripe about your workplace.. take it up there.. don't make generalizations about all women who work and become mothers.
