thriving city to have the animal rescue show in? I am thinking it's easier to film for the producers because of the pretty much year round sunny weather, and it seems like there are tons of dogs, cats and horses to rescue in that part of the country.

I'm sure the officers get paid a cut from the channel that produces the show. They are afterall on camera, so are in essence, working actors

They used to have one set in Detroit, but I watched that one once, and they made some pretty idiotic "calls." On one episode, they accused this lady who lived in a trailer of having an exotic cat that was part ocelot. When the camera focused on the cat, it was obviously just a fat tomcat. The woman had never heard of an "ocecat," as the Detroit animal cop officers insisted it was (apparently, the cat had been fighting with neighbors' cats and the neighbors had complained).

I KNOW what an ocelot looks like. And I know what a great big (big-boned, big all over) tom cats look like, as I have 2 big toms (neutered) myself.

This woman's cat was obviously a gray, tabby marked, big-boned tom. Also, very friendly and well-taken care of.

I even emailed the Detroit Humane Society to tell them of their error and to tell them they should have checked their sources before airing such a stupid segment.

Anyway, maybe that's why they're not on anymore. ;-)

I do watch all of the Animal Cops shows, because I find it very interesting (and often disturbing) to see what it is really like for hundreds of animals out there. It makes me much more motivated to volunteer with the animals at my local humane society!

By the way, there is also an animal cops show in Detroit, NYC, Miami and Arizona. At least those are the ones I have seen.

I've always wondered if the officers enjoy being filmed or if it is a pain in the butt for them! I can imagine that in potentially dangerous/tense situations, they would probably prefer that there were no cameras. However, I do think that it is a good thing that they are helping educate people on animal cruelty and how it really is important to report any you see!

They have animal cop shows for Detroit and New York too, not just Houston...

Good show, interesting to get the rural perspective at times. Not too often they rescue a horse in NYC

If it weren't filmed in Houston it wouldn't be called Animal Cops Houston now would it.

You also have Animal Cops Detroit, Animal Cops San Francisco and Animal Precinct, the original animal cops type show filmed in New York.

They also have Animal Cops Phoenix, Animal Precinct (which is in New York City), and Animal Cops Detroit. Not always sunny weather in two of those cities.

Animal Cops Houston is set in Houston, because that's the name of the show? Otherwise it would be called Animal Cops Miami or whatever city it was in.

I've actually met one of the guys off the show.. and he told our shelter that if AP EVER comes looking to film us ACOs in duty, we should run the other way.. Most of the participants don't enjoy being on the show.. and also, don't forget AC Detroit and NYC.
