Deeper principle: There have to be boatloads of conflicting prayers out there. How are they resolved? How does He decide who gets the nod and who gets the shaft?

God must play favorites. If you've been watching the NFL this year, God must be a big Patriots fan.

Deeper principle: If God gets conflicting prayers and he's going to answer prayers, he must make decision of who gets answered. How he decides I guess would depend on what he wants to see in the world. Those who go against his vision get the shaft.

Praying for a win? Why? Who does this "praying for a win"? Tell me their names please. Because mostlikey they SuCK! There are many things more to pray for. First I would thank Him for the life to live. Then I should thank Him for the game to play. I would bless the opponent, For they make the game worth playing. Next, pray for strength so you can give your all. If you win be glad and thank the Lord. If you lose be sad and ask Him "WHAT HAPPENED?" And pray for life and strength from him to play better next Saturday. P.S. If you lose you can always pray for rain, so that the winning team can't go swimming in Tony Romo's back yard pool with seventy- two Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and some barbecue, and some drinks and some some some.... WAAAAAA! GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU LET ME WI-I-IN!!

God answers everybodys prayers. Some with a yes and some with a no and some with a referral. One persons nod may be another persons shaft. Do we really think it's in our best interest to always get what we want when we want it?
Does God care which team wins or how they play the game?
Do we really think that God (if you believe in God) thinks or acts like us? Do you really believe that our ideas about God have much to do with God anyway?
I have ideas about the writer of this question, but is that a reflection of the questioner or is it a reflection of me?

has anyone tried getting two football teams to play each other, and pray to God to win?
------------------------------------------------------

how does God decide who gets their prayer answered and who doesnt?

God does not decide what prayer does or doesnt get answered prayer. God has already answered yes to everyone of his promises.

He sent his word to prosper. isa 55:11

the burden is to receive by faith, according to what God has already said about it. 1john5:14-15

everyone that asks receives, everyone that seeks finds, to everyone that knocks the door is opened. matt.7

there isnt any "no" there.

the only reasons that a person doesnt get an answer is because he doubts, or is double minded. jms1:6-8

Well, I read somewhere that God grants opportunity, not material gain or actual results. I would assume the occassional miracle is granted for His reasons, but for the most part, God gives us the time, talents, treasures and opportunities to do wonderful things.

And I would guess most football players are actually praying for health and safe carriage through the game and not praying for God to smite their opponent!

God isn't a fan of football so HE doesn't care who wins. I think you will find that St. Paul had something to say about, for lack of a better word, selfish and frivolous prayers. I don't know how God decides. Maybe you should ask HIM?

He checks the naughty and nice list. The teams with the fewest bad apples wins.

See, even in prayer, it's all up to which team can score the most points!

What is the big picture for one team to win over the other? In history God has used every day events to further his cause for humanity.

when football teams pray they pray that God helps them play to their best ability and that no one gets hurt. but if they both prayed and asked God to make them win then he probably would just stand back and not do anything for the both of them

Do you really believe that God answers those types of prayers?

God only answer prayers that conform to HIS WILL didn't you know that he even turned down Jesus

(Hebrews 5:7) 7 In the days of his flesh [Christ] offered up supplications and also petitions to the One who was able to save him out of death, with strong outcries and tears, and he was favorably heard for his godly fear.

(Isaiah 1:13-17) . . .I cannot put up with the [use of] uncanny power along with the solemn assembly. 14 YOUR new moons and YOUR festal seasons my soul has hated. To me they have become a burden; I have become tired of bearing [them]. 15 And when YOU spread out YOUR palms, I hide my eyes from YOU. Even though YOU make many prayers, I am not listening; with bloodshed YOUR very hands have become filled. 16 Wash yourselves; make yourselves clean; remove the badness of YOUR dealings from in front of my eyes; cease to do bad. 17 Learn to do good; search for justice; set right the oppressor; render judgment for the fatherless boy; plead the cause of the widow.”
