Sam Adams makes a good one

Stella's pretty average (it's actually not an exceptional example of the genre for the price, and it's pretty hyped up) but probably outside your price range at $9 a sixer, if you want 'not too expensive.'

Try Blue Moon (or the crisper but not as widespread Goose Island 312 wheat ale). Both will run you close to $7 a sixer, at least in Ohio, and their lightness of body lets you drink them all night long.

Sam Adams is also a quality option; they make a plethora of styles, all priced about the same as Blue Moon.

And just so you know, Smirnoff doesn't make beer (a brewed beverage consisting of malted barley and hops, fermented via yeast). They make malt beverages (alcopops). There's a big difference. Malt beverages are missing the character of the hops (the bitterness, in other words). In some people's opinions, that's wonderful, but in my mind, there's nothing better than bitter hops counteracting the malt in a perfectly balanced beer.

Firestone Double Barrel, anything from Sierra Nevada, Bass, Newcastle, Harp, Flying Dog, Karl Strauss.

These are all pretty readily available in grocery stores where I live and one of them is bound to be on sale. Bass is $10 for 12 at the Vons up the street right now.
