jack russell 5yr old) devolpes this itch all over its body. It's not caused from fleas but by grass & it only happens in summer.

Yes. Go to your vet for a prescription. Usually you can use Benadryl.

I have used chlorpheniramine generic from Wal Mart over the counter. My vet said this is the same thing vets often prescribe. Make sure give small dose since Jack Russels are little, but I believe it's pretty safe. I gave to a 30 lb. beagle three times/day.

Yes, go to your vet for the correct ones at the correct does. You can't use just any old thing, and certainly don't use human medication.

Its perfectly safe to give you pup Childrens Benedryl...it will help w the itch & it comes in non-drowsey so it wont effect his behavior! Best of luck I used it on my pug in the winter cuz she gets super itchy skin from the dryness of the heat. Works well to on my Moms Frenchies allergies. BEST OF LUCK!

Also the great thing now is that the childres meds come in those melt awat strips so its SUPER easy to give em to you pup no fighting to get them to swallow pills or force messy liquids down their throats!

also try a bath in oatmeal shampoo or a baby one. and it can be just one type of grass. there are many differ kinds....

12.5 mg benadryl for that size dog is fine.
