I personally think that you should be concerned. Obviously your dad's 'spidy sense is tingling' and he sees something in this guy that isn't right for you, that you don't see. Maybe you should consider having a talk with your dad to find out what it is he doesn't like. Just the fact that he told you he doesn't like the guy shows how much your dad loves and cares about you and only wants the best for you. I'm 21 and let me tell you that 99.9% of the time parents are right! They know because they've been there. Talk to your dad, you'll see!
Good Luck ;)

Your dad was once a young guy too. He may recognize something in this guy that is unsettleing. You would need to be concerned if your dad did not care who you dated.
You need to realize that grown ups have experienced all kinds of people. We have learned to ''read'' people and often we know what kind of person they are very soon after meeting them. Your dad loves you. He does not want to do things to make you miserable. He wants to protect you from all the bad things that could hurt you. Try to listen to him and give him the benefit of the doubt.

Fathers, do have this mind set that their daughters are very important to them. They do not give up that right for any young man to take his job (the care taking of his daughter), very easy. So if the young guy doesn't have a good job and he doesn't respect you in the way that your father thinks would be correct, and proper that could be bad news for your boyfriend. Have a one on one talk with your father and find out what is the issue with your boyfriend you might be surprised how things might clear up. Your age may also be part of it as well, so think about the issue and talk to him as a grown-up. Good Luck

Has your Dad told you why? Is he too old for you? Does he not have a job or is dropped out of school? A girl's Dad is the BEST guide. My Dad knew when I met the right guy...and so did I. If he's super paranoid, it might take some proving.

First listen and find out why your father feels the way he does. Don't go off by what he might say, get mad, that won't solve anything. You need to be concerned, your dad is alot older and has a few more reasons and answers, when it comes to who goes out with his daughter. Remember someday as a mother you to will have questions on who your children are going out with.

Not really. First things first, your boyfriend isn't dating your parents, so when you think of it in that aspect, you should realize that it doesn't matter all that much. But granted, I lived in a very strict household where Daddy never liked my boyfriend either. So how you deal with it is by showing him that you are serious about the idea of dating and you know how to hold your ground. When you start showing your father that you know what to do and how to deal with things in that area, you will gain his respect for your choices (your boyfriends) more easily.
