If you're asking, start walking, in the other direction of a recruiter's office.

Joining the Marine Corps is not risking life but protecting lives. Be proud to be a Marine.

It does not matter what service you are in. Military men and women will do things for each other that no civilians would ever think of. One is risk their life for another fellow military member. The friendship one makes in the military is a closer bond then anyone outside looking in can imagination. If necessary they will do anything to help a fellow member. All services are the best. I am thankful for the Marines, Army, Navy, and Coast Guard members who risked their lives to save unknown Air Force pilots during the Vietnam War. I know that feeling works all the way around the service. No one person is an army by himself, it takes support from the marine in your foxhole, the artillery soldier, the offshore shelling from the Navy, the close in support from the Air Force and the go in attitude of the Coast Guard. I am retired Air Force and feel that the Coast Guard is the most under rated service there is. During the Vietnam war they were responsible for a lot of saved lives. There motto in English is You have to go out, you don't have to come back. I would like to now salute all of my brothers and sisters in arms from long ago to today. They do deserve everything and more for what they do.

Risking your life?? For the Corps?? How about for the Marines on your right and on your left. Now thats a reason. Thats what it all comes down to. Being a part of the best fighting force in the world is one great feeling. But I risk my life anyday for my Marines. OOORAHHH!!!! I love this country and would fight for it day and night. But once your there the reason why doesnt matter. I love the Corps and love all my brothers who have fought and for those who never made it back. Semper Fi!!!

If you even have to ask this question, then you don't have what it takes to be a United States Marine.
