i like to make my own judgement on people instead of listening to what other people have to say. i believe my uncle is a freeloader. i try not to listen to how my relatives blow it out of proportion, but i see what I see. he came back to my hometown after almost a decade with his family and ended up moving moving into my grandmother's house. no rent paying, no phone bill paying. when asked for money, he always seems to be out of money. he charges my own mom for doing her favors. i'm a grown man and find that if i have a job and watch what i spend i'll have money. would there be a reason as to why my uncle never seems to have any money, or is he just milking this whole family thing until it's dry?

He does what he does because your grandmother, and the rest of the family LET HIM!

What's important is how YOU live YOUR life, and whether or not you are satisfied with how things turn out where YOU are concerned.

If you want to waste your time taking everyone elses inventory then I guess that's OK too, if it gives you some sort of satisfaction.

Otherwise, I don't see how it can adversely affect you unless he moves into YOUR home and starts feeloading off of you.

Meanwhile, if your grandmother wants to waste her life savings on supporting a useless lay-about, that's her affair, and NOT YOURS!

I know, it sticks in my craw too, but really, isn't life complicated enough, without having to stick our nose in everyone elses business?

You have standards, so live up to them, and leave the failing to everyone else. You can't save EVERYBODY from a bad life, just yourself!

He is a freeloader and a loser. I can understand relying on family for assistance during times of trouble, but one should give as one gets. The unfortunate thing is most families will end up supporting at least one free loading relative.

If your family is dumb enough to enable him to use them, then USE them he WILL....

He's not hurting you... so why are you so stressed out about it?
