Just asking because every time someone questions the existence of God, the first response out of just about every Christian on this website is "your going to hell." Is human thought the work of the devil????

if you're thinking about going against religion and stuff, i guess that's considered evil and is the work of the devil

Yes it can be.
Satan and his troops the devils can whisper evil thoughts in your ear, we than think of these thoughts as our own. We have the choose to act out that thought or reject it and listen to the whispers of the angels that whispers good ideas and demands obedients to your Creator. Every action that you do has the recompense of a good deed or sin. Your actions are then recorded by your right or left angel. It is said that you have six hours to repent before the angel marks a sin against you.
Any way, God does not punish us for our thoughts but rather for our actions.

Not all thoughts are considered evil, only those pertaining to evil deeds and lustful behavior. This is my opinion, and I am a Christian. Not every Christian is the same, and for those who say you are going to hell, they are usually the ones who like to mock the religion, most likely a troll.

Well, according to what I have seen here, Even to "think" of a sin is a sin. So yes, to many people even thoughts are evil.
Thoughts do NOT lead to evil! Acting on those thoughts do. The great majority of us do not act upon all our thoughts, of even a fraction of them.

Good thoughts are good, wrong thoughts are wrong.
I encourage you to put your faith in God and to come to know Him thru prayer as opposed to fearing hell. Fearing hell won't lead you to God. But when you come to understand His limitless love for you, that will encourage you to come to know Him.
