I think the best way is to join college ROTC. My school had a 100% selection rate last year. Our selectees scored 97 or higher on their fitness test. I think the lowest GPA was 3.6 They all had very strong commander's recommendation. They did well on the TBAS (its a test that's a lot like playing a video game) I think the lowest score was a 94. We had a computer science major, a civil engineering major, an economics major, and an aviation mgt major. Your major doesn't play a factor in being selected.....but your GPA does....
Take a look at http://www.afrotc.com and see what you think.

Take (and pass) as many math and science classes as you can while in high school. Although ROTC might help, there is no guarentee for pilot training. Applying to the Air Force Academy is a good way, but you have to receive an appointment to attend. Also, study up on aeronautics. Applying and completing OCS is not a guarentee for pilot training. Try to be in the best physical and medical health.

Get good grades, do ROTC, and sign up as soon as you can. Being an Eagle Scout helps--a friend of the family was, and he became a Marine fighter pilot. He's been deployed, and must be O.K., b/c I haven't heard about him since.
Be careful what you wish for, though, unless you are O.K. with paying the ultimate price for freedom in an America that you will never see again. Not to sound scary, but being a fighter pilot is damn gutsy work, that's all.
If you want it bad enough--godspeed, kid, and go for it. :)

Take as many AP class's as you can.
Make a great GPA.
Be involved in sports and school clubs.
Apply to the Air Force Academy
Apply for a AFROTC scholarship.
Major in engeering, math or physics.
Apply for Flight school.
Take the AFAST, AFOQT test and score well.
.
While it is possible to become a USAF pilot thru OCS, your scores will need to be higher.
The best routes are either the AF Academy or AFROTC.

Don't be a navy fighter pilot, their planes are so bad, that the navy fleet has to follow after them with a carrier...
