chow question Hes 5 years old and is loosing all his hair all way down to skin why?

he has been loosing all his hair all way down to skin and its geting ver irritaed and red.. He will not let me or anyof my family put cream on it from the vet. I feel that the cream is making it worse.. He is a good chow but gets nervouse when strangers come around... Should i take him to another vet and try that he seems to be gettingworse... and not the same fun loveing chow we have here...

Hello. There could of course be different things wrong with your Chow. Did your vet take skin scrapping's and test to see what might be going on? One thing about all dogs is they have a mange that is called "Red Mange", or "Demodex Mange". This mange does not affect a dog until the dog becomes, nervous, stressed, etc. Two of my rescue dogs have this type of mange, but once it is cleared up and you know the source of why the mange became aggitated, you can easily prevent it from happening again in the future. To get rid of this mange, your vet will dip your dog every 2 weeks until the mange mite is gone. However, it's always good to get a second opinion.
