I would like to purchase a new TV but I have no idea which companies are American based. Can anyone help?

NONE of them are.....

But Sony does have manufacturing in San Diego CA.....

I think the XBR line is done there....but check with SONY to find out what models are made there.

actually i think i remember my science teacher talking once about how back when TVs first came out most were made in the united states but then the Japanese or the Chinese starting making TVs that were a better quality and for cheaper prices and manufacturers in the us started closing and that now there aren't any completely us based companies that make tvs. i would just suggest getting a tv from a feriegn company

I think Zenith was the last American TV manufacturer, they were purchased by LG Electronics from Korea in 1999. Zenith will claim they are subsidiary of LG America, but don't kid yourself - LG Korea calls the shots.

Sharp and LG are the only American brands..a lot claim to be American brands, but buy parts from japenesse company's.

Vizio's are made in California. They are one of the fastest growing companies in the LCD genre. Good prices.
