i have sat with my legs crossed probably starting when i was around seven now i am fourty. i cross them every time i sit down, eventually after a long priod of crossing my top leg gets numb. i have heard that crossing your legs can cause vein problems, back problems, and hip problems, i dont have any at all, but is this true that it is bad? do you cross your legs also? and are you aware it might be bad?

Well prolonged positions of any kind, upon reaching a certain age reduces the circulation the area under stress due to the prolonged position. So that may very well be your problem, the solution is easy, maybe start out sitting normally and let your body come to the natural position that you are used to.
If you have not stoppped doing it in the time you have been around, then the habit will be tough to break, cushions will also help, and maybe leaning backwill reduce the reduction of circulation to your legs.

Hope I helped.

When you sit down, try crossing your ankles instead. This looks better, and feels better too. Crossing your legs can led to serious problems in the hip and back. If you absolutely have to cross your legs because it is habitual, then when you feel them get numb, uncross your legs, and cross them with the other leg on top. I don't cross my legs just because it feels very uncomfortable for me, and after like 5 minutes my legs start feeling numb, but I always cross my ankles. Hope that helps.
