The belts don't mean a whole lot. Floyd is considered pound for pound #1. Collecting the other belts will only beholden him to the sanctioning bodies. As it is now, he fights when he wants, who he wants. Being Floyd Mayweather is more prestigious than being undisputed welter champ.

In a sense, Floyd's upcoming fight is unification bout with Hatton, as Hatton won the WBA 147lb belt with a win over defending champ Luis Collazo, but Hatton relinquished the title because of feeling less "powerful" at 147lb. Cotto now owns the WBA belt. The third champ(IBF) at 147lb Kermit Cintron is someone who could give Pretty Boy fits and the fourth(WBO) champion Paul Williams, at 6'2" would most likely give Floyd a boxing lesson as his height would be too much for Floyd to overcome IMO.
In this day & age an opponent who is lucrative will get the nod to fight a visible champion(like Mayweather) than an unknown champion within the same division. Money matters to the modern athlete.

There aren't many fighters that stalk all of the big fights. In the history of boxing, Sugar Ray Leonard, Oscar Dela, Bernard Hopkins, Lennox Lewis, Evander Holyfield, Pernell Whitaker, Sugar Shane Mosely, Arturo Gatti, Mickey Ward, Felix Trinidad, are some boxers that no matter if they got destroyed or won, they never ducked anybody, they chased, thats why some lost, lol. Mayweather is like Roy Jones when he was young, he's picking his wars. A great example is Erik Morales, Marco Antonio Barrera, and others like them are finished and they're not even in the middle 30's yet, too many wars add up and detract from a career.

Because he would be risking a defeat on his undefeated record. This is why he would never be considered the greatest of all time or even on that level. Until I see him take risk in his boxing career, I would never put him in the same class with S.R. Leonard, Ail , Haglar, and Tommy Hearns.

Yes your right there are plenty of challenges out there for him. Plenty of fights and tough fighters for him to get his teeth into. Lets see him step up to the plate.

I would love to see how he would do at Middleweight. I reckon he has the talent, its just that this new Middleweight King seems to be a tough customer very resourceful and adept at handling pressure. There is a Super Middleweight waiting in the wings as well so you never know what challenges may await young Mayweather.

the wbc is the main belt why does he need to. after he beats hatton to death he will probably take a bout with cotto and unify the welterweight division. i cant really see any othe fights for mayweather right now besides cotto that the biggest money for him right now.

belts don't mean anything anymore, just about every fighter and their mother has a belt now. i'm sure Gayweather will fight who ever he can make the most money fighting (belt or not). he'll fight Cotto for a huge payday, not to unify the tittle.
