ning non: "...make sure you tell your relatives and family they dont get gifts or decorate...it WAS a pagan ritual once"

They already know I don't celebrate it.
It seems like the gifts and the tinsel mean the most to you.

In the early Roman church, 1st century, the Bishop of Rome decided that the best way to get both pagans and Christians into church was to incorporate some pagan traditions as well as christian into the church.
Christmas is a pagan celebration of the winter soltice (Dec,21), Easter is a pagan celebration of the spring equinox. Have you ever wondered why Easter is on a different Sunday every year? If Christ was crucified on the Friday of the Passover Feast and resurected on Sunday, don't you think it would be on the same Sunday every year? Don't we celebrate Labor Day on the same Monday?
Easter eggs and bunny rabbits come from the pagan god of fertility, Oester. The yule log and christmas trees have their roots in paganism as well.
In answer to your question, it's tradition.
Jesus said, (not exact words) why do you follow the traditions of man instead of the word of God? He was speaking to the scribes and pharasees.

why do non christians celebrate it..if you dont agree with it then dont celebrate it...make sure you tell your relatives and family they dont get gifts or decorate...it WAS a pagan ritual once..it is also the celebration of christs birth...but obviously people cant leave it at that..they like to show how cute they are by bringing up garbage about holy days (holidays)...

Hello,

Because you are still worshiping and celebrating Jesus but you are adding some more color, fun and ceremony and merriment to liven up that otherwise would drab celebration.

No sharing, gift giving, wine, festivities, spirit, music, dance? Why live?

Cheers,

Michael Kelly

Well that's just not how we see them. And how we see them is all that matters. We make anything we want fit into our belief system regardless of logic or truth.

Thats what it means to be set free....free of logic and truth.

It started as a way to redirect pagan celebrations so that they would be more spiritually-minded and moral.

Better to celebrate Christ's birth than to drink and sex.

I think God looks on the heart as to why we celebrate this holiday. For me, it has nothing to do with santa and presents, but remembering that He came to earth to save me.
