Either use a router to set up a wireless network from your computer, or take the internet cable and plug it directly from the modem to the PS3.

1). You can use wi-fi connection (except 20GB version). You'll need to hook your modem to wi-fi router. Then - follow the manual.
2). Wired connection. Just hook your modem directly to PS3. There were many reports, that direct connection from modem to PS3 didn't work (like in my case). In this case - get a wired router. IMHO, wired connection is better, than wi-fi, becauste it's more relaible.
