You should not give your dog cat food, it is higher in fat and protein which is not good for dogs and can lead to many health problems. Cat should not be fed dog food because of the lack of taurine which a cat needs to prevent blindness, it not the vegatables in dog food that will lead to blindness in cats, as suggested by one person.

Not a good idea. Cats have different nutritional needs and there's too much protein in cat food for dogs to eat on a daily basis.

Cat food is much to rich and can cause health problems.
If it's like an emergency say yiou have an unexpected snow storm and you've run out of dog food dor a day it's kind of ok but not more than that

Way too much protein and fat!
It will be horrible for your dog. Please buy some good quality dog food (Canidae or equal).
Someone above said the dog will stay calm--the opposite will happen. He'll be too energetic from all the protein.
Also dogs are omnivores and require certain nutrients from veggies and fruits. Cats are carnivores so they get all their nutrients from meat (this is why they'll go blind eating dog food-they cant process the veggies properly). Your dog will end up very unhealthy in the long run even if he seems fine now.

Edit: I was not saying that the veggies actually cause the blindness. All animals need taurine. Herbivores and omnivores are able to create it themselves from certain things in veggies and fruits. Carnivores are unable to create their own taurine and thus must get it directly from their food.

Why would you give it cat food. It's a dog. Buy it dog food. And no it's probably not very healthy for it, they won't get the nutrition that they need! Not a good idea. Hope i helped. = /

cat food and dog foods do not contain the same things they are formulated different since they are for different species. If you dog is having problems eating its food look for small bite style or put it in the food processor to chop it up some.

no, dog food is specially formulated for dogs and cat food is for cats. I'm sure they need different amounts of protien, fiber and other neutrients.
Is your chihuahua a dog or a puppy?
buy food specifically for your dogs age, puppy food or dog food is avaliable in pet shops, and there are some that say "formulated specifically for small dogs"

not a good idea cause all animals need specific nutrition and dogs and cats have different nutritional needs. i would seek out a brand of dog food that is made specifically for small breeds because big breed dog foods have more calcium than small breed dog food.
