We're more skeptical of belief systems that we were not raised in.

The average person today is not entirely as susceptible as your average sheep herder of 2,000 years ago. Human gullibility is still huge, but some of the updates in science and technology have encouraged critical thinking. And dogma in contemporary religion (other-faiths-bad) also stop people from changing their current beliefs.

And while new religions are somewhat rare, new ideas and branches of the old ones are popping up everyday.

Who says there are not Gods or Goddesses being born/created anymore? We just need to be aware of how they are manifesting.....

There is Kyberia, Goddess of New Technologies and Computers who manifests frequently in the lives of those who honor her...... And I am sure there are others if we just pay attention.

In Exodus 20:1-6 God gives Moses the the first two of the 10 Commandments.

Exo 20:1 And God spoke all these words, saying,
Exo 20:2 I am Jehovah your God, who has brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.
Exo 20:3 You shall have no other gods before Me.
Exo 20:4 You shall not make to yourselves any graven image, or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Exo 20:5 You shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them. For I Jehovah your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the sons to the third and fourth generation of those that hate me,
Exo 20:6 and showing mercy to thousands of those that love Me and keep My commandments.

Boiled down they are
1. You shall have no other God's before me
2. You shall not create for yourself an idol to worship.

The question is why are there no gods being created anymore is false. Everyday people create images and gods to worship. When someone will not turn to God with faith and repentence, because they think that he is too harsh for sending people to hell. They have created a god to suit themselves, because they are not comfortable with who God says he is in the Bible. He is righteous, holy, and just. There is a day in which God will judge the world in righteousness. God commands everyone everywhere to repent. Also, he commands them to keep him first in their lives and not create anything else to worship. All throughout history people have created gods to worship, because they were made to worship. They worship worthless idols that bring no satisfaction to their souls. And they will never be satisfied, because only God can satisfy a soul that worships and honors him with their lives.

You see your question isn't a matter of why are there no gods being created, but a matter of which god are you serving?
